Oily hair can definitely pose a problem for most people who have do deal with their oily tresses on a daily basis. How many times haven’t you wished your tresses could look gorgeous even after a few days after washing?
One of the hardest problems in dealing and handling oily tresses is hair styling. Styling the hair when it is greasy is difficult because the hair tends to separate into thick hair strands, making the hair unmanageable. Another thing which makes most people uncomfortable is the sebum which adheres to the hands when they are brushed through the hair.
Oily hair can be caused by two things, because the glands produce too much sebum, or because the hair is becoming dry and the sebum is being released in order to ensure the hairs protection. Sebum is very important because it protects against external factors which can damage the hair.
Here are some tips to help you deal with your oily tresses and prevent more sebum from being released from your scalp:
a healthy and diverse diet is very important because it can help the hair receive all the vitamins and nutrients it needs in order to look healthy. Avoid eating greasy foods and drink plenty of water, about 8 glasses per day to maintain your body hydrated
use products which are mild on your hair and are especially designed to deal with oily hair. Avoid alcohol based products because they will only strip all the sebum off your tresses and cause even more sebum to be produced
make sure you find out what causes your scalp to produce the excess sebum. Hormonal imbalances, even stress can be one of the reasons the sebum is produced excessively
don’t over clean your tresses because your scalp will produce even more oil to protect the hair from over drying. It is better to wash your hair gently and regularly
sleep on a satin or silk pillowcase because this will help your hair become more shiny, it will help your hair
rinse your hair with cold water in which you have added a little bit of apple vinegar. The vinegar will help your hair appear softer and shinier as well as help get rid of the grease
If you are carefully caring for your hair but still no results are showing it is best to visit a dermatologist. He will offer you the advice and will be able to perform certain test to determine the cause of excess sebum production.
