Skinny jeans are back again for the new season. Actually, they never went out of fashion. And they will probably never do. As each season, fashion designers take their time and reinvent denim, for spring/summer 2010 you should just take your skinny jeans out and pair them with some hot, trendy pieces.

You have to learn how to choose the right pair and how to accessorize it in order to emphasize your best features. Wear them with pumps and platforms in the spring and with sandals in the summer.

How to choose the perfect skinny jeans

There are three main types of skinny jeans according to leg opening: skinny, cigarette or straight-leg jeans. So, on cigarette jeans the leg opening is the same starting from the knee and down to the ankle, while on skinny jeans the leg opening gets smaller. Straight-leg jeans are a classic item and their cut stays the same starting from the thigh.

Therefore, you have to consider your body type and the body flaws you need to camouflage in order to choose a pair of jeans that flatters you. And try to go for an even color. For example, cigarette jeans are the best option if you have calves problems or if you are rather petite, while straight-leg jeans are perfect for thigh issues.

Wear them with… This season, skinny jeans come in different colors. Draw your inspiration from your favorite style-icons or from the street style.

Be bold and choose the floral ones which are a total must-have for spring and summer. Team them with a sober blazer on top for a more office look, and a simple, white t-shirt and a pair of platform sandals for a more casual, daytime look.

The ripped and worn out version are cool, but they are not appropriate for every occasion. For a bohemian look, pair your skinny ripped jeans with a peasant top.

For the boldest of you, try Balmain’s lamé skinny jeans, or those with animal prints. Be careful not to go to extremes and make a total too much fashion no-no.

If you choose more “daring” pants, moderation and simplicity should characterize the rest of your outfit such as neutral colors, simple t-shirts and accessories that aren’t drawing attention.
