Before we get to the new 2009 Fall fashion trends, here’s a brief introduction to successful fashion designer, Alexander Wang.

The man behind Alexander Wang brand is, simply, Alex – born and raised in San Francisco, with a Chinese-American family heritage. Arrived in New York at age 18, he attends Parsons Design School and many internships, all this leading to its first collection Since then, his name is popular at any fashion show and on almost every runway.

In 2008, Alexander Wang was recognized by the fashion industry with the Ecco Domani Emerging Designer Award, and most recently, by his peers, with a nomination for the 2008 CFDA Swarovski Women’s Wear Designer of the Year Award. This year, NY was the stage where the young artist presented its vision, at the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week on 14th February at the Roseland Ballroom. His proposal for the future season is classic and incredible in shapes and textures. All that came out the runway was clean, classic and luxurious.

Alexander Wang Fall 09

It all looked very urban, stylish, but still breaking the idea that fashion needs to be a true prediction. Alexander Wang proves it!

His main inspiration for his collection is African ritual body painting or the Asian bondage culture, motorcycle jackets, all translated in pieces of couture like asymmetric dresses, armor inspired metallic pieces, sportive leg wear in cyclist and torero style, and bondage dresses, all melted into the 2009-2010 Fall Winter fashion trends.

Alexander Wang Fall 2009

Alexander Wang mixes and matches in a natural manner, like a jacket with origami-inspired draping. Yet, he’s still able to create a very cosmopolitan and chic look just playing with various influences. He’s just as comfortable when introducing on the runway a hand knit scarf with Australian Merino dreadlocks. So what will happen next? What will this visionary have in mind the next time? I guess we’ll just have to wait for the next fashion week. Until then, Alexander Wang, we salute you!
