Tina Craig and Kelly Cook, the masterminds behind The Bag Snob are preparing to launch a handbag line for HSN. Titled Snob Essentials, the new handbag line is scheduled to hit US HSN stores starting with May 15, where it will be sold exclusively until fall. Starting with fall, the line will be available at more retailers, including European e-commerce site Luisa Via Roma. According to Tina Craig, the focus for the new line was placed mostly at a textural level for an interesting contrast. The creative duo opted for modern shapes for the new bag styles which range from cool clutches to roomy totes.
According to Anne Martin-Vachon, chief merchandising officer at HSN, the new handbag line is designed to be an answer to fashionistas’ style needs this season first and foremost:
“Snob Essentials provides us the opportunity to broaden our reach, while offering current customers something that is distinctive and new. The line’s classic and modern silhouettes are affordable, trendy and functional — and exactly what our fashion customers are looking for.”
The handbags from the new line will be made out of vegan leather and will feature interesting elements such as faux pony hair, faux croc and custom designed hardware elements and will be more affordable than the duo’s previous handbag line, the Bag Snob x DKNY, which was launched back in 2011. Tina told WWD.com that the goal of the new Snob Essentials HSN handbag line was to provide value to fashionistas who aren’t necessarily keen on spending big money on designer handbags.
“We see thousands and thousands of bags every month because that’s our business. With this line we’re not trying to compete with Givenchy or Chanel or even Rebecca Minkoff. We want to be a great value to the 99.99 percent of women who shop at Zara or Forever 21, but those bags are now $150 dollars. We want to offer something to women for a great price,” she stated. This is why the new handbags will have prices between $68 and $108.
