If most of the fashion collections from the first days of the New York Fashion Week focused mostly on day to day outfits with a few elegant evening gowns in between, the Zac Posen brand has taken a different perspective, shunning casual wear altogether and focusing solely on elegant attire options that instantly conquered the audience.

Fitted dresses were the norm in the designer’s Spring 2012 ready-to-wear collection and the heavy emphasis on waist was more than obvious in most of the designs presented. Corset dresses are making a comeback in the brand’s vision, which often channeled Old Hollywood glamor accents into their creations. The stunning array of dresses feature several interesting elements such as pepulm accents, tailored elongated jackets, fabulous embroidery sophisticated necklaces. Mermaid style gowns dominated the scene and the impressive level of detail and craftsmanship included in creating the right proportions at the base of these dresses is truly astonishing.

Despite the undeniable sophistication of the gowns presented on the runway, the overall feeling of the collection is not that of over the top, sexy gowns created specifically to attract attention, but rather that of a glamorous attire with a touch of ingenuity attached to it. Overall, the breathtaking designs in the collection have placed it among the most memorable ones from this edition of the New York Fashion Week.
