The Roberto Cavalli fall 2013 campaign is defined glamour and edginess and brings the label’s hottest looks for the upcoming season into the spotlight. The latest Roberto Cavalli campaign was shot in Paris by renowned photographer Mario Testino and features models Liu Wen, Liya Kebede and Iselin Steiro. This time, the tongue-in-cheek tone used in the Psychotic Love campaign gets replaced by a more serious one.
The Roberto Cavalli fall 2013 ads are meant to capture the designer’s “innate passion for women and his desire to capture their intrinsic beauty and charisma in an emotional and passionate way.” The new ads seem to be inspired by high society parties. The bold and ultra luxurious offerings from the new campaign definitely emphasize the label’s wild side. After all, the label was never known for its subtle designs, so the maximalist accents were definitely expected.
The designer’s insatiable desire to bring high impact choices is well reflected in the new Roberto Cavalli autumn/winter 2013 campaign which makes the idea of sticking to one type of print or a single printed piece seem like an unnecessary restriction. This time, the label extended its palette of motifs beyond the usual animal prints which are a well known part of the label’s identity. Motifs like moths, fruits and reptile accents seem to be surprisingly complementary in the ads.
The standout pieces of the new line are definitely the Hera bag, which was the subject of the label’s earlier campaign and the dramatic jewelry pieces. Aside from wickedly cool exotic skin handbags and sophisticated black and gold combos, the label opts for opulent fur pieces to truly put the things into the right perspective. Despite the controversies it inevitably brings, it seems that, at least for the time being, the fur trend is definitely here to stay. Still, ethical implications aside, these pieces complement the new outfits perfectly and illustrate the label’s intriguing mix of edginess and sophistication.
