Are you ready to see what designers will be strutting on the catwalks at London Fashion Week 2013? Oh, we definitely are! But until this happens, we took a peek at some of their past collections and discovered an array of incredibly stylish pieces. And one important brand that will be showcasing its cold-weather line in the capital of UK is Moschino Cheap & Chic.
In 1994 Rossella Jardini took over the Creative Direction of Moschino, for the labels Moschino, Moschino Cheap and Chic and Moschino Jeans that became Love Moschino in June 2008. Jardini, who has collaborated with Franco Moschino since 1981, is responsible for advertising and store image. “Franco raised the designers who worked under him; he had faith in them and gave them creative freedom,” Rossella said.
Moschino has always had a special place in the fashion industry. Their designs are characterized by a unique reinterpretation of the classics and a particular blend of irony and elegance. The Moschino Cheap And Chic spring 2011 collection seemed like a beautiful hymn to summer and was described by Jardini as being “molto fresca”. The line featured loads of playful goodies but also the brand’s trademarks such as the peace sign and the word ‘smile’.
Happy, fun and youthful was the house’s spring 2012 collection, while for their fall 2012 line, Rossella Jardini had a sources of inspiration makeup and Queen Elizabeth. There were pleated skirts in bright colors, cropped military jackets and matching dresses, colorful knits, and elegant coats.
“It’s like we are now,” Jardini said of her spring 2013 collection. “A mix of cultures and influences. Traditional African prints and typical Italian jacquards, all mixed together.” There was a ’70s flare mixed with elements from the African culture and even hip-hop.
Moschino Cheap And Chic will be presenting their fall 2013 collection at London Fashion Week 2013 on February 16.
