Designer – retailer collaborations are becoming a popular marketing strategy with benefits for all the parties involved. Among the collaborations that have sparked the public’s interest, the Karl Lagerfed and Macy’s capsule collection is certainly one of the most important ones for the season.
With a high accent placed on elegance and classicism, the collection features a variety of interesting pieces that can be worn on multiple occasions. All black ensembles are an important part of the collection, signaling the fact that this trend continues to be an important part of the style tendencies for the season. Flirty dresses, elegant hosiery, figure flattering vests, tweed pieces, high collars or trench coats and classy accessories such as gloves are some of the recurring elements of the collection.
The perfect combo of classicism, femininity, sexiness and simplicity instantly catches attention as it manages to demonstrate the endless mixing and matching possibilities a few well chosen pieces can provide. Elegant pieces are interestingly highlighted when contrasted with more casual choices which have a rock chic vibe thanks to some key elements such as fingerless gloves or leather. A lot of accent is also placed on highlighting the waist area in order to create an hourglass shape.
It is also interesting to note that accessories are kept relatively discreet. Aside from the uber classy black pumps, short necklaces, silhouette enhancing belts and the signature fingerless gloves, very few other accessories are used to complete the outfits. Simple style rules and a commitment for choosing the most flattering pieces seem to be the recipe for success according to the world renowned fashion designer.
Despite the obvious preference for versatile dark colored pieces which have a subtle masculine vibe, the capsule collection also features some brightly colored uber feminine pieces. Floral prints along with monochrome dresses are choices the designers offer to those who are interested in highlighting a more romantic side of their personality.
The entire collection will be featured in stores on August 31 nationwide. These fitted, clean cut pieces will have prices that range from $50 to $170 and are expected to literally fly off the shelves, so keeping an eye on the collection and preparing in advance is definitely recommended in case any of the creations seem like a wardrobe must have for you.
