Every season Dsquared2 designers Dean and Dan Caten manage to surprise the audience with their fun and flirty style antics and this season the new collection was no exception. Senior high school year was the inspiration behind the Dsquared2 Fall 2012 ready-to-wear collection, but despite the fact that the designers usually go for casual, laid-back styles, this season Dan and Dean took a more unusual approach and opted for highly sophisticated, wearable designs that seemed to be situated between contemporary and vintage. The designs had a vintage feel but they also seemed very up-to-date, with a certain contemporary vibe attached, characteristic that kept the attention focused throughout the show.
The fashion show took place in a scenery decorated with in-sync details, a Class of 2013 sign hanged on the wall and a band playing in the background, so the theme of the collection was very well defined. However, the designs took a highly visible 50s or 60s turn as models appeared on the catwalk with bouffant hairstyles, well defined eye makeup and various color capri pants, pencil skirts and mohair sweaters.
The collection had a very subtle, sophisticated feel, and this is a detail that surprised the audience but in a definitely positive way. From super casual jeans and white shirts tucked in ensembles to Jackie Kennedy style suits and dresses and evening gowns, the designers put together a selection of very wearable outfits that go from day to evening.
Layering and mixing and matching contrasting colors, from autumnal hues to vivacious, springy colors that gave a certain breath of fresh air to the collection, seemed to be the perfect way to underline the usual style that makes Dsquared2 ooze freshness, youthfulness and style. Throughout the collection, an array of mixed and matched details including chic toggle coats, shrunken cardigans, capri pants, jeans rolled up below the calf, mohair sweaters, pencil skirts, crock jackets and elegant cocktail and evening gowns enchanted the public, details that will be a must in your Fall 2012 wardrobe. The designs were paired with stylish pointy rhinestone embellished toe pumps displayed in various colors, accessory which also helped give the collection that sophistication and elegance that seems to be very important this upcoming season, so browse through the collection and go Dsquared2 if you’re all about making a fashion statement!
