For the new season, femininity was often redefined and subtlety was highly valued. While a touch of freshness is always appreciated, it was nice to see that adepts of girly designs were definitely taken care of. Collette Dinnigan has made sure of it with its flirty designs for the spring 2013 season. A gorgeous array of dresses and skirts unraveled and reflected the appreciation for classy yet simple ensembles with a strong potential to impress.
Floral prints made a brief reappearance in the label’s new season offerings in a fairly abstract manner but one that definitely makes everyone want to take a closer look. A definite plus for shoppers looking for versatility is the fact that the ensembles can work well for day and night events as the lines and proportions are adequate enough for both purposes. Lace and satin get back into the spotlight in a myriad of fun and flirty designs.
A high accent is placed on fit and the designer places a high importance on adequately defining the waist which is why a grand variety of dresses have the area emphasized either through a fun peplum or a thin elegant belt with a structural flower for added visual interest. Color-wise, the options are fairly limited but at the same very well defined and monochrome pieces with intricate textural details get an upvote in the designer’s book.
Even a few attempts towards the bridal area have been spotted. Though lacking the volume and drama of regular bridal options, the designs presented can definitely serve as inspiration for lovers of simplicity as far as design is concerned and envision something a little different for the big day. All in all, the collection provides plenty of flattering items worth considering in the new season.
