Fashion is more than just pretty clothes as renowned fashion label Alexander McQueen proved from its début into the fashion industry as innovation and a high attention to detail can lead to amazing looking fashion pieces that have the ability to underline perfectly one’s personality; no wonder that the brand put on display a mix of extravagant garments that represent a contemporary take on vintage statement styles that won’t go by unnoticed for its resort 2013 season.
Having stepped into the shoes of one of the world’s most appreciated fashion designers, the late Lee McQueen, Sarah Burton managed to prove her designer skills and maintain the label’s notoriety for impeccable craftsmanship and uniqueness. She’s kept McQueen’s signature style, but spiked up the collection with her own sense of style, bringing a bit more femininity to the fabulously detailed garments signed by the label, characteristic that can easily be observed in the Alexander McQueen resort 2013 collection.
Resort-wear usually concentrates on bringing vacation-inspired garments to the fashion scene, but it seems that the Alexander McQueen resort 2013 collection aims towards another direction by bringing extravagant and sophisticated patters to the scene. A reinterpretation of 70s classic designs that are even taking a certain sci-fi take on fashion, at least in the first part of the collection, gives the collection a ‘je ne sais quoi’ that is bound to make heads turn. Sarah Burton seems to have mixed elegant feminine pieces with retro-twist jumpers and masculine inspired suits, this bringing to the fashion scene the diversity that is highly necessary in fashion as not everyone can rock the same fashion styles.
Perfect for women that want to steal the spotlight with their high fashion look, whether it’s through classic well tailored suits, beautifully constructed high waist pants paired with flirty blouses or uber-sophisticated evening gowns, the collection is definitely a match for those who have something to say fashion-wise. The high quality fabrics and the amazing color palette which overlaps timeless classics with metallic madness fit for the golden age of glam, create a feast for the eyes, so browse through the oh-so-fabulous fashion creations and pick your new season inspirations.
According to Sarah Burton, Alexander McQueen’s resort 2013 collection was a ‘back to the basics’ collection as the designer told Style that:
“I wanted to bring everything back to the body. The proportions are extreme: high waists, an elongated leg, a peaked shoulder. There’s a harder, more precise, masculine edge that’s a reaction to the roundness and the sickly-sweet femininity of the last collection.”
Dare to be creative and create a visual spectacle with your perfectly sequined or jacquard suits, stylish dresses or retro-chic jumpsuits featured in Alexander McQueen’s resort 2013 collection.
