Oscars Red Carpet – Strapless Gowns
Jennifer Lawrence was breathtaking in a red/tangerine Dior Couture creation. The column dress featured a peplum skirt and the star accessorized it with a Ferragamo clutch and wore her necklace at the back, just like the did for the 2013 Academy Awards.
Kristen Bell was equally gorgeous in a Roberto Cavalli gown with beaded detailing. Another star who wowed on the red carpet in Cavalli, Kristin Chenoweth opted for a metallic gold dress with a mini tulle train.
Oscar Dresses 2014 – Gold
Wearing Elie Saab Fall 2013 Couture, Angelina Jolie was also on board with the gold trend, in a beautiful beaded gown with paired Ferragamo shoes.
Cate Blanchett won the Academy Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role (“Blue Jasmine”), but the actress really sparkled on the Oscars red carpet in an Armani Privé gown, fully embroidered with Swarovski crystal baguettes.
Sarah Paulson also opted for Ellie Saab and paired her Spring 2013 Couture embellished gown with Christian Louboutin ‘Youpi’ rose-gold pumps.
Red Carpet Trends – Black
Charlize Theron stunned in Dior Couture, opting for a black gown with sheer illusion straps and completing her look with Harry Winston jewels.
Wearing J. Mendel Fall 2014, Anna Kendrick went for a gown with asymmetrical lines and floral detailing.
Another winner when it comes to black Oscar Dresses 2014, Emma Watson’s Vera Wang Fall 2014 pewter gown was perfectly accessorized with a Chanel Fine Jewelry ring.

Jennifer Garner chose a truly breathtaking Oscar de la Renta gown that shimmered on the red carpet and pulled it off with a delicate clutch.
Lady Gaga showed off in Atelier Versace from the Spring 2014 couture collection with Brian Atwood platforms.
Another nude stunner, Jesica Biel’s Chanel Spring 2014 Couture gown also falls into one of the other big Oscars red carpet trends. The strapless dress was accessories with Tiffany & Co. Blue Book Collection jewels.

Lupita Nyong’o made the Best Dresses list again in a Nairobi blue Prada gown which she helped design. Fred Leighton jewels and Prada Raso clutch completed her look and the actress also got another gorgeous accessory on stage, the Oscar for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role (“12 Years a Slave”).
Amy Adams opted for blue again after the SAG Awards and pulled it off with a Gucci Première gown and Tiffany & Co. Blue Book Collection jewels.
Sandra Bullock opted for a navy Alexander McQueen gown and paired it with Lorraine Schwartz jewels and sideswept curls.
Oscars Dresses 2014 – Bold Shoulders
Kate Hudson was a gorgeous appearance on the red carpet an Atelier Versace Spring 2014 gown with shoulder pads and cape detailing, accessorized with the Jimmy Choo ‘Vibe’ Sandal.
The one shoulder Giambattista Valli dress Penelope Cruz wore with Chopard jewels wasn’t too sweet, thanks to the delicate black bow detailing.
Meryl Streep went for old school Hollywood glamor in Lanvin, with a softer emphasis on the shoulders.

Kerry Washington showed off her baby bump in a beautifully draped Jason Wu dress with Jennifer Meyer jewels.
Olivia Wilde wore a Valentino Pre-Fall 2014 gown in a black, sexy silhouette with Lorraine Schwartz jewels.

Intricate lace designs were another hit on the red carpet at the 86th Academy Awards. Julia Roberts wore a black Givenchy gown with Bulgari jewels.

Red Carpet Trends – Blue Tuxedo
Academy Awards host Ellen DeGeneres wore a Saint Laurent black and blue velvet tuxedo while delivering her monologue, but the trend was also popular with Kevin Spacey. The “House of Cards” star went for a blue Burberry tuxedo, even more eye-catching than Ellen’s look.
Kellan Lutz didn’t go for the full blue velvet look, but his eco-friendly tuxedo designed by Jomnarn Dul featured elegant blue detailing.
