MTV Movie Awards 2014 – Best and Worst Dressed

Hosted at the Nokia Theatre L.A. Live in Los Angeles, on April 13, the MTV Movie Awards 2014 brought together some of the biggest stars from Hollywood and the music industry. While black was a major trend, some celebrities also pulled off more colorful and daring looks for the awards ceremony.

Lupita Nyong’o

After topping the best dressed list during awards season, Lupita Nyong’o took a risk that paid off at the MTV ceremony. 

In a daring mix of prints and paillettes, her dress was designed by Karl Lagerfeld for the Chanel fall 2014 collection. Lupita completed the look with blue Casadei pumps.

Jessica Alba

Mixing a white Piece d’Anarchive tube top with a yellow Kenzo high-waist skirt helped Jessica Alba make the MTV Movie Awards 2014 best dressed list thanks to the flawless proportions in her outfit. She completed the look with Jimmy Choo pumps and an Narciso Rodriguez for Bottletop Collaboration clutch.

Ellie Goulding

Keeping true to her style, Ellie Goulding showed up on the red carpet of the MTV Movie Awards 2014 wearing a white Giorgio Armani dress with cool detailing, from cut-outs to pockets. She completed her look with Jimmy Choo black peep-toe pumps.

Nicki Minaj

Taking a break from her usually colorful fashion sense, Nicki Minaj made the MTV Movie Awards 2014 best dressed list in a black Alexander McQueen gown, paired with gold Midas accessories. Her sexy waves were the perfect details for this sophisticated look.

Chrissy Teigen

A cocktail dress may be a risky choice for most red carpet, but Chrissy Teigen made it work at the 2014 MTV Movie Awards. The model chose a Ulyana Sergeenko spring 2014 couture dress and completed her look with Christian Louboutin pumps in black and ombre hair.

Rita Ora

Wearing black was an inspired choice for the British singer. She made it on the MTV Movie Awards 2014 best dressed list thanks to her Barbara Casasola fall 2014 black dress with a daring neckline. With the help of Lorraine Schwartz and Jennifer Fisher jewelry, she really made it work.

Zendaya Coleman

Worst Dressed At The MTV Movie Awards 2014

Rihanna

While the white and flowy look worked for Ellie Goulding, most fashion critics panned Rihanna’s red carpet look. Wearing a beige bodysuit under a pink robe from the Ulyana Sergeenko spring 2014 couture collection, Rihanna failed to make her look red carpet worthy.

Shailene Woodley

Lacking the complete runway look, Shailene Woodley made the MTV Movie Awards 2014 worst dressed list in an army-green Balmain pre-fall 2014 look. Going for separates might have worked, but the matchy-matchy leather tee and skirt lacked the right accessories. The “Divergent” was also safe in her choice of black Balmain sandals.

Victoria Justice

Wearing Atelier Versace from the fall 2012 collection, Victoria Justice ended up looking more suited to the ice skating rink than the red carpet. With accessories as eye-catching at the dress, the end result was way too busy.

Bella Thorne

Making the MTV Movie Awards 2014 worst dressed list in Versace, Bella Thorne chose a blue cocktail dress with plenty of trendy elements, but couldn’t pull off the look. Her restrained choices for jewelry and Jimmy Choo sandals were a good idea, but her outfit just didn’t come together.

Iggy Azalea

Rocking an edgy design from the John Galliano spring 2014 collection, Iggy Azalea also landed on the list of worst dressed celebrities at the MTV Movie Awards. While her Galliano platforms are gorgeous, pairing them with the dress off the runway just proved too much.
