We can barely keep up with the multitude of interesting collaborations that keep rolling in. If the Prabal Gurung x Target has stimulated our appetite for novelty on the fashion front, the new Olympia Le-Tan x Lancome collaboration for Valentine’s Day gives us whole new reasons to want to restock our wardrobes and makeup kits. Known for her fabulous idea of turning some of the most beloved classics from literature into lust-worthy clutches that will instantly make a statement, Olympia Le-Tan used her creativity to deliver an elegant option for the occasion.
Aside from being a perfect accessory when wanting to make a statement, the new minaudiere is perfect for having your seduction weapon with you at all times. The designer explains: “I wanted to design the cover of an imaginary novel called ‘Rouge in Love’. My idea was to create a ‘mise-en-abyme’, a book within a book. It is held by two hands with painted nails and surrounded by little red and violet lips that seem to dance around. I love drawing lips, so it was the perfect opportunity… The clasp and side, instead of having a gold finish like my other designs, are silver, like a mirror. Perfect to look into during the evening if you want to touch up your make-up.”
Seeing the new clutch created for the occasion we cannot help but think that Lancôme made the right choice for their first anniversary of the Rouge in Love and Vernis in Love make-up lines. The anniversary launch is very limited edition. Only 100 kits containing 6 nail polishes and 6 lipsticks have been created for the occasion.
The adorable minaudiere along with the fab new offerings will retail for $1500 and are already available for pre-order. Still, if the ensemble is a bit too steep for your pockets, you can always opt for purchasing the lipsticks or nail polishes separately. The “In Love” nail polishes retail for only $15 per bottle while a lipstick in a seductive shade will only set you back $26.
