Katy Perry is preparing to launch a sister fragrance for her first signature perfume, Purr. The latest fragrance inspired by the diva will also revolve around the feline world for its theme and will be suggestively called Meow.
Despite her very busy and successful year, the diva is set on creating a fabulous new scent that will have different defining notes for a clear distinction between the two fragrances. According to Katy, the California Dream Tour was a great source of inspiration for her new project:
‘It’s a sister fragrance. Purr to me was a little bit more floral, and Meow is a little bit more sweet. It was probably because of the California Dreams tour that it was more of the confectionary world, because everything I’ve seen for the last year has been like cotton-candy scented or huge peppermints or massive gummy bears,” the songstress stated.
Given the fact that the Purr and Meow are designed to be sister fragrances, it’s no surprise that the two perfume bottles will be quite similar. The star concluded that milk bottles found in flea markets were the perfect choice for a fantastic perfume bottle design: ‘Vintage milk glass that you find at flea markets always looks so great with light hitting it. It’s really a stunning bottle and doesn’t need bells and whistles, or too much sparkle around it,” the diva told WWD.
For the launch that is set for mid November, Katy has chosen a retailer she has great affinity for:
“I chose Nordstrom because that’s where I liked to shop growing up in Santa Barbara,” she said, adding that “We want to be classy.” Cheri Botiz, national beauty and fragrance director for Nordstrom revealed the retailer’s expectations for a great response and reveled her belief that the latest fragrance matches Katy’s personality perfectly: “Everything about Meow embodies Katy’s fun, spirited energy,” she explained.
As for Katy’s own expectations and plans about the product, she is planning to direct the entire attention on the product rather than on her, as she did with the last product and she anticipates her future campaign to be quite impressive: “I’ll be doing some events around it — some pop-up things, probably in December. Those get pretty wild. I don’t get beat up like Justin Bieber, but I do get some screams.”
