Waxing is probably the most popular hair removal method used by women – and some men. If you want your skin to be soft and smooth you might consider waxing.

Waxing can be done in a cosmetic salon or at home depending on your choice. If you are not comfortable with the idea of a stranger waxing your hair off you have the option of doing it yourself. There are several waxing products you can use like: wax strips, sugar waxes, creams, hard waxes and cold waxes.

Before you begin to wax it is necessary that you prepare your skin for this process. You need to clean very well the area from where hair is to be removed using an exfoliating product. This will remove all the skin cells and make the hair easier to pull out. Pat the area dry and sprinkle a bit of baby powder to keep the area dry during waxing. Be careful not to put too much powder so the wax can adhere to the hair.

Tips for Waxing at Home

Make sure the strip adheres to the wax by gently pressing the strip, grab the end of the strip and in one quick motion pull the strip in the opposite direction of the hair growth. After you pulled the strip apply hand pressure on that area to minimize the discomfort. Repeat the same until all hair is removed from the area.

After you are done waxing look for any missed hairs and use a tweezer to pluck them out. Remove any remaining wax residue with baby oil or wax remover and apply an after-wax lotion to soothe the skin. Make sure the hair isn’t too short or too long, it should be at least ¼ inch and not longer than ½ inch. Apply the wax in the direction of hair growth on one area and cover the wax with a muslin strip making sure the end isn’t covering the wax.
