Fashion victims
How important is fashion for people?
Nowadays, there's an evergrowing number of people interested in clothing, styles and latest fashion. A lot of people expect you to follow fashion, but thankfully some of us have our own style.
Nowadays, there's an evergrowing number of people interested in clothing, styles and latest fashion. Shops are full of extravagant fashion styles, journals rate the clothing of famous actors, pop-stars and politicans. One of the problems which every one has is how to look fantastic, how to be IN and, most of all, HOW TO FIT IN AND BE MODERN. But what is modern?Something,that the whole society accepts.The clothing industry takes advantage of decreasing fashion and of people's blind longing to be the same as the others.Lots of girls think that if they are wearing narrow T-shirts and minis as her class mates,they will be more successful and more attractive.
What's really bad about this is the fact that young people really focus on appearance and modern dress. If you love dungarees, but now everybody wears hipster trousers, people look at you like at a lunatic. Nobody speaks highly of originality and if you want to have your own style, you are, in short, peculiar. Magazines, billboards,television commercials - everybody talks about important items of clothing that will help you update your appearance. No getting out of line! If you want to be different, let's go, neverthelless you have to put up with contemptuous looks from others. People can condemn each other only because of clothing and it is bad.
Recently,my friend and I tried to wear strange clothes in shining colours, which are now definitely „OUT“ and tried to watch how people looked at us. It was unbeliavable how many people turned away from us. Some people spoke badly about us, others laughed at us and someone shouted at us and asked if we were crazy. As a result we found out how important fashion is for people. Therfore it was a great surprise for us, because up to this time I assumed that boys aren't so fussy about fashion. They seemed to put on what they find on the bedroom floor when they wake up. However,sometimes they are more vain then girls!Is it worthwhile?
On the other hand, not everbody is a fashion slave. I've got lots of friends who don't watch television broadcasts of fashion shows and who buy clothes according to their taste and not according to what is now IN. They are more happy than my friends the „slaves“.They wear what they want,what is comfortable and what conforms to their lifestyle.It's up to them how they live and dress and others should respect it,not condemn thein choice! And that's important.If we were the same,it would be a boring life on this planet!

I've been wanting to write a blog entry like that for ages or to read one like it and I am so so glad you have writen it and that i am not the only person who thinks it. I found it really interesting.

Posted April 03, 2009You are blessed that your parents brought you up with a strong sense of who you are. Sadly the majority of the population gain their confidence and sense of self worth through the approval of others. This results in "sheep" mentality and no industry understands this better than the fashion world. The majority of the population all want to look just like each other so they can be accepted. Fashion "slaves" suffer from low self esteem hence they aren't happy. The most confident, happy members of society are also the ones with a strong individual image who quite frankly don't give a stuff if you like their charity shop fleece top or last seasons leopard print coat.
If you want to be different - you have to be confident and like yourself first. And this is definately not a position "fashion slaves" are not qualified to fulfill.
the only way to escape fashion is to go bun amterial and make up y your owyour own.
Posted March 06, 2009Whether you believe that your friends who supposedly, "wear what they want and don't conform" or not, even their choices in clothing have been affected by the fashion industry. The clothing that they choose to put on daily, whether from a walmart or from a nice store, was designed after some form of fashion, whether it be the color, the material used, or the style.
Posted January 25, 2009To think that you can somehow 'escape' the fashion world is preposterous, everything you put on your back was chosen for you by the people that you remark are making the youth their slaves.
