Have a Scene Christmas

So, this holiday I will be getting together with my family like most do. And of course, they will see my progression into the scene culture (which I started gradually a little over a year ago).

I know that they'll accept me no matter what I look like (trust me, there are more drastic apperances in my family). But should I tone it down a little? Here are my two ideas:

Idea one: Go all out, like I would any other day. Wear the shirt in the picture paired with red skinny jeans and white flats. Accessorize with red and green jewelry, do the make-up, and tease my hair. Dress it up with bows. =]

Idea two: Dress a little less...."loud." Maybe a green sweater dress with red flats, wayyy toned down make-up, but still tease the hair.

Idea one is definitely more me, and it will be more comfortable and fun to wear. But idea two is more conservative, and the holidays are supposed to be about us coming together. I don't really want to deal with a family discussion about my style and how I've "changed." Whether they like it or not, they'll still draw attention to it. So, what do ya'll think?

Question: do you prefer myspace or facebook? (by Amberlicious)
mixie's answer: Myspace, fer sure.

But I use both. =]

Question: How to clean teased hair?? (by bethdafairy)
mixie's answer: Herbal Essences degunkify smells great and can get pretty much anything out of your hair. It's a shampoo/conditioner.

Other than that, the only way to take care of hair that is regularly teased is by getting it trimmed every eight weeks to avoid breakage.

Question: Hair suggestions? Long blonde and completely boring. (by Kadie)
mixie's answer: Hey, I found this hairstyle that would work well for you! It'd look nice with the platinum blonde look, or even if you just wanted platinum blonde highlights to lift it.

Also, since you said you had fine hair, this haircut was meant for fine hair. It will give body and life! Make sure you post pictures after getting it done. =]

Question: How would I explain the hair style "Coon Tails" to my hair stylist?? (by CrystalxCullen)
mixie's answer: Ohh, I would just bring in a picture.
That way, you know that the stylist won't mess it up.
And if he/she does, they can't blame it on you for "not explaining it well enough."

What color coon tails are ya thinking? I Love the look!

Question: What makeup looks best on me?? (by aussierose)
mixie's answer: Whoa, that youtube video that n00bcandy posted is awesome!

I have all sorts of new eye makeup ideas to play with now. =]

Question: Haircut ideas?? (by HilaryRose)
mixie's answer: I think this would look nice on you! It'd look nice with your natural color (which I'm assuming you want to keep because you didn't mention dying/highlighting). The layers will frame your face and give your hair a little body. And it's super easy to maintain. No straightening, no curling, just whatever natural waves you have.

If you wanted to infuse a little extra wave into your hair (so it's more like the picture), I'd pick up a bottle of Sea Swell Texture Mist. You spray it in, scrunch, and voila! Instant beach waves. It's nice for days that you wanna shake things up, and a bottle will only cost you about $10.

Whatever you go with, if you ask them to razor cut it instead of using scissors, it will automatically have more edge. Razoring gives hair that light, wispy look.

Question: What makeup looks best on me?? (by aussierose)
mixie's answer: Haha, aww. You are too cute! :]

I understand not wanting to go "full out" scene. It's best to evolve into it rather than make drastic changes. I read your other post about the hair and going for a Hayley Williams style. So I thought this make-up look might be good for you.

It's done by a youtube make-up artist named panacea81, and I swear she has a look for everything. So if this is still too drastic of make-up, look through her videos! Highly recommended. Anyways, it's inspired by Hayley Williams and the Decode video. So I thought you'd like it! ;]

It can be easily achieved by covering the whole upper lid in a white eyeshadow base, and blending a sparkly silver over it. Line your upper lid, thin near the inside of the eye and getting thicker toward the outside. Line your lower lid with a light eyeshadow (she uses a faint sparkly red). Apply mascara as needed. This look is great because it shouldn't even take ten minutes!

Just remember to leave the rest of your face relatively bare. Maybe a coat of clear lipgloss. Otherwise it will look unbalanced. Possst pictures! :]

Question: I don't know how to get my Hair done?? (by aussierose)
mixie's answer: I think a softly razored cut would look nice. something like sarah chalke from scrubs:

It's edgy, and it looks good with the little flip at the bottom. The only thing is, I'd keep your length. If anything, only get an inch shorter to weed out the split ends. Also, maybe get a couple short layers on top for you to play around with to get a bed-head look.

Blonde is definitely a good look for you, and hopefully your hair is light enough that you can dye it blonde without having to bleach it. If not, I wouldn't recommend blonde (bleaching will fry your hair). Just ask your stylist ahead of time.

As far as the black slices, black might be a little harsh. It'd just make your fair complexion look washed out. You'd look really great with the blonde/red look like the picture. Or even a blonde/dark brown.

Oh, and a Hayley Williams style would be super. She's got a great sense of fashion...with just the right balance of casual and trendy. And it'd look rad on you! :]

Question: anyone know of a diet that will make me lose 15 pounds in 2 weeks? (by Killahhh_D)
mixie's answer: All I can really recommend is running. Real running, not just jogging. When I was 170 lbs. and wanted to get down to 140, I ran for 20 minutes, 3 times a day. It took me a little over a month to reach my goal, so you might reach yours in time.

Of course, my running was not paired with a diet. So if you diet, you'll lose the weight in no time. Good luck! :]

Question: i have pmpls on my face and i use all the cleaner stuff but wont evr wrk!!=( (by sassy_chic)
mixie's answer: Oh dear. I know how you feel. I used to have the WORST acne problem.

Sometimes, the cleaner actually makes it worse because of all of the oil. One that happened to work for me was Neutrogena Deep Skin Cleanser. Other than that, all you can do is drink water to keep your body flushed, and wash your face (gently!) a lot.

It's an old wives' tale that putting tooth paste on a pimple will make it go away...but I'm not sure I'd want to try that. I just did a balance of that cleanser, lots of water, and waiting for the phase to pass.
