oily skin usually feels very greasy. the texture is often very thick and coarse and there are large, visible pores on your facee. after a wash it feels fine but by midday it looks shiny. here are some home remedies to try and rid your oily skin.

almonds and honey;

the luscious combination of succulent almonds and sweet honey works well as a gentle facial scrub for removing oils and dead skin cells. mix a small amount of ground almonds with honey to make a paste. gently massage the paste into your skin with a comfortably hot washcloth. rinse with cool water.

baking soda;

be abrasive, but in a mild way. liquid soap users can add one half of a teaspoon of baking soda into the mixture. rub gently onto oily areas such as the nose and chin. this gentle abrasive works well in getting rid of blackheads as well as oil. rinse with cool water.

cornstarch;

cornstarch dries up oily patches. mix one to three tablespoons of cornstarch with enough warm water to make a paste. rub on your face, let dry, and then shower or rinse off with lukewarm water in the sink. try this once a day for best results.

salt;

this gift from the sea is nature's best desiccant. place tepid water into a small spray bottle and add one teaspoon of salt. close your eyes, and pretend you're at the seashore. then squirt some of this salt spray on your face once during the day. blot dry.

vinegar;

a good way to exfoliate the skin is with white or apple cider vinegar. apply using a cotton ball before bedtime. leave it on for five to ten minutes and then rinse with cool water. you'll need to use this remedy for three weeks to see improvements. if your skin is super-sensitive, dilute the vinegar with four parts water. for a summertime treat, chill the vinegar or freeze it into ice cubes and apply as a cooling facial.

apples;

if you're willing to do some creative cooking, your effort will be rewarded with this homemade, oil-ridding facial. mix half of a cup of mashed apple, half of a cup of cooked oatmeal, one slightly beaten egg white, and one tablespoon of lemon juice into a smooth paste. apply to your face for fifteen minutes, then rinse with cool water.

egg yolk;

a fast fix for removing oil shine requires one of the simplest foods; the egg. an egg yolk mask dries out the skin. apply the egg yolk with a cotton ball to oily spots. leave on for fifteen minutes, then rinse with cool water.

dry skin has no permanent cure but the skin can be softened and made smoother by using a few remedies. most popularly, lotions and creams are used to soothe the dry skin. ssing a mild soap or a cleansing body wash might eliminate the problem temporarily. however, this option can turn out to be pretty expensive if the skin is genetically dry or just exceptionally dry. certain remedies can be used to soften the dry skin right at home.

-a face pack made of fruits rich in vitamins and water can have a good effect on the dry skin. some of the fruits that can be used are papaya, peach, and banana. mashed avocado can also be applied to the skin for a glowing effect. a mild lotion or moisturizer can follow these face packs, to retain the moisture produced by the face pack. it is advised to use oil-based lotions in such instances. moisture has to be applied with upward circular motion always.

-night creams containing alpha hydroxy acids can be used as night cream so as to have a fresh looking skin in the mornings. these are more oily than the regular creams and work more effectively for longer time during the nights.

-a diet consisting of a lot of vitamin a, vitamin b, and vitamin e can be taken for an inner glow in the skin. leafy vegetables help the most in replenishing the moisture in the skin. the water intake needs to increase a lot to help the body have the required amount of fluids. fruit juices are also considered to be very helpful in softening the skin.

-rose water, almond oil, honey, olive oil, and beaten curd can all be used as good face packs. other than this, daily massage or facial sauna with herbal oils and use of mild detergent and fragrance free soap can work wonders on dry skin.

one- choose a color that compliments your eye color. green eyes look good with a brown, bronze or sage eyeliner. brown eyes look good with a brown, sage or even violet eyeliner. blue-eyed ladies can choose from charcoal, brown or navy eyeliner.

two- choose eyeliner that is easy to apply. ssk for samples before you buy one. draw a line on the back of your hand to see how much pressure is needed to create a line. you are looking for a pencil that requires little pressure to create a line. the softer the pencil, the better the pencil.

three- close one eye. try not to hold it closed with your fingers or pull on the lid. pulling and tugging on your delicate eye skin can stretch it and cause premature lines.

four- start with the upper inner corner of your eyelid. draw a line as close to the lash line as possible. you can use short strokes if it's easier for you. continue all the way to the outer corner of your eye. keep the line thin on the inner corner and thicker on the outer corner.

five- draw a line under the bottom lashes starting with the outer corner working inward. keep the line close to the lash line. use short strokes again if it's easier and continue to the inner corner. again, keep the line thin on the inner corner and thicker on the outer corner.

six- smudge the line if you prefer a thicker, softer look. You can use the opposite end of the pencil or the 'smudge tip' of some eyeliners. a finger sometimes works, too. you are just gently smudging the line into a softer, wider line using short strokes.

one- liquid eyeliner comes in a bottle rather like ink, and you must use a separate brush to apply. some come with one. the best result will come from a point liner brush.

two- liquid eyeliner should only be used above the top lashes. [unless you are going for a very harsh, dramatic look] also, it is difficult not to get it in your eye. it is best to use a pencil or eyeshadow under the lower lashes. if you do choose to apply liquid liner below the eyes, remember to use a light touch as harsh lines are unflattering and make you look tired, and the skin below your eyes is very delicate, besides.

three- you do not need to try and paint a continuous line with liquid eyeliner. it is easier to paint small dashes along the lash line, gently adding a stroke every three to four millimetres, and then connect them afterward.

four- if you want a thicker line than this initial thin one, build it up gradually. start at the middle of the lash line and draw towards the outer corner. you can extend the line slightly past the outer corner of your eyelid if you wish.

five- to make your eyes look even better, start thin and then get thick; this gives the look of bigger eyes. for cats eyes, flick the brush at the end of the stroke.

tipss;

-if you do not have the time to apply your makeup slowly, it is best to simply go without eye makeup. don't worry or feel self-conscious; if you don't work in theatre or in vegas, makeup is never a necessity. moisturizer and some gloss will leave you looking fresh and pulled together when you're in a hurry.

-if you do poke yourself in the eye, it is best that you rinse your eye out and gently wipe the entire eye area clean. If you have injured yourself, apply slight pressure with a damp, warm washcloth to your [closed] eye until the pain subsides.

-if you find you really REALLY can't apply liquid eyeliner, why not try pencil?

-i've found that it's easier to apply liquid eyeliner when your eye isn't closed all the way.

-if you do something wrong, keep a cotton bud with some make-up remover on the end or a make up corrector pen to clean up and mistakes! the universal solvent, water, can also be used if no eye makeup remover is on hand. olive oil works as well, but remember to remove it thoroughly [accomplished easily by wiping it off with dry q-tips] before continuing makeup application.

-if you do make a mistake while applying liner in either pencil or liquid form, then it is easily corrected; use a q-tip and some eye makeup remover to erase your mistake and start over.

-keep one eye open. obviously the one that isn't at work. it's easier, and in the end, you'll have a nice straight line.

-practice makes perfect. rehearse your liner application techniques and with time, you will be able to apply liner like a pro!

-liquid eyeliner isn't for everyone. some people ARE allergic, so be sure you aren't before using it. if you don't, you could end up with a swollen eye!

-first timers should begin with natural and universally flattering colors, but feel free to experiment with brighter colors, for example - green eyeshadow with neon liner!

-try applying your liquid liner after you have put one thin coat of mascara on, it helps give you a straight line, when you are done putting your eyeliner on, then you can finish your mascara.

-be careful when you have just put the liquid liner on the top eye; if you blink too soon, you will get small horizontal streaks across your eyelids, which is NOT pretty.
