Hello:) My name is Ren or Wren, whatever floats your boat.
I'm a tough type of girl but I have an seemingly unavoidable girlie edge that comes through in the following ways... I'm a floral designer and I grow and sell flowers to a few big chain stores. I have a butterfly garden as well, because butterflies seriously fascinate me. I play the flute in an orchestra and a flute choir, and I sing in a Concert Choir and a smaller, more exclusive choir. And I dance en pointe in contemporary ballet. :) I'm also a hopeless romantic, for what that's worth.
I'm very busy, what with orchestra and choir, several classes I take on one day, a speech and debate squad all day on another, and trying to finish my series of acrylic paintings in time for an art showing... Life's crazy. I am the queen of "procrastination fashion. Seldom are my outfits picked out much time at all before I wear them, but you know, it keeps life interesting. I have three amazing best friends, but the only person that truly understands me is the boy who has taken my heart. I am fully capable of talking about him for hours without end, don't test me if you don't want to know ;)
I love:
All Things French <3 I speak fluently.
Working with flowers
Butterflies
Cars (oh so much)
Contemporary Ballet
Meeting new people
Painting
Music <3
I hate:
Unnessacery drama
My fainting condition
And conceit...

Showing 1 - 15 of 29 commentsHey!!! Thanks for the request! (: Kewl username btw :D
Bonjour Mademoiselle Ren!
It seems we do have a lot in common!
How about you tell me a little about yourself? Besides what you've written on your profile of course!
It's so cool that you speak French! I know a little, but I could never stick to learning. How long did it take you to learn? I'm actually learning Korean at the moment.. Annyeonghaseyo Ren ssi! Eotteohge jinae? :D
Korean is a very difficult language to conquer...-Sigh... The grammar is quite painful-... Once do though, I plan on studying French.
You Are very Lucky In My Eyes... I So Wish Mine Grew Quicker I Spend A Fortune On My Hair So It Would Be Nice For It To Repay The Favour Lol...
Bonjour Mlle. Ren, Je parle en peu francais, mais vous le parlais excellente. Vous etes une tres jolie et intelligente jeune fille. Je pensais que vous voulez parler français car c'est le langage du ballet.
I loved your story!! Maybe you are a" tough type of girl" as you say. Certainly it seems that Mr. Stefan has learned his lesson. I have to admit that I'm not very tough. I learned to run pretty fast, though and am good at avoiding fights. :D Actually, what you did is something my kid sister Julia would be inclined to do than me. But Jules sems a lot more of a tomboy than you. I'm not a coward (I hope), but I do know my limitations and fighting or athletics are not my strong points. But we're all different and as long as we understand ourselves, it's okay. But I'm proud of you as were your friend and her brother. The story also says something about people--some have to always be the boss and tell other people what to do. I guess it feeds their egos.
Ricki and really great and thanks for saying so. In a lot of ways we're different (his fashion sense, for example, needs work,to put it kindly) but ever since we met, we've been close. He could well become a professional dancer; he's that good. I didn't mean to say that everyone here teases boys who dance because that's definitely not true. But there's always a certain group who want to punish anyone who's different and boys who are artistic fall into that category. Surprisingly, most kids our age are better than some adults. I've overheard some older people talking about me, for example, and they say worse things than some of the bullies. But they're unlikely to change, so we'll just hope for the future.
DC has a fantastic theater scene, especially classical theater. My mom has several series subscriptions as do my aunts so we get lots of opportunities to see special performances. Some good local theater programs at Georgetown, GW, and Catholic U. Plus we benefit from being near New York. We usually go to New York at least once a year, mainly to see musicals because there's no beating the Broadway musical shows.
Yeah, schools are that way. Again, though, lots of the boys at that school were nice kids. It was just one group. Plus boys especially seem to like to show how tough they are by dominating physically weaker boys (which makes no sense when you think about it). I guess girls can be that way too. I'm more they typical anime boy in that I'm more feminine than masculine. My father used to blame my mother for "making" me a sissy. But that's really unfair. Mom obviously supported me all the way, but nobody "makes" us anything. We are what we are. But I would definitely avoid your dark sulky type of boy (or girl) even if you were cute.
Oh please tell me more about your everyday clothes. I love girls who wear petticoats and crinolines. I think full skirts really look fantastic. I don't know much about the Lolita look, but I did go to one fashion show (my friend Jenn was a model) and it was intriguing. It takes a lot of work to make clothes like that that really look right. As you might have guessed, I'm a bit of a traditionalist (not conservative though) in my tastes. I like to read Jane Austen, Dickens, Fitzgerald (my favorite writer), etc.
What made the live Bily Elliot better than the movie (which was fantastic) was just the thrill and energy of the live dancing. Interestingly, while Billy was fantastic, the girls were even better I thought.
Oh gosh, I'm sorry if I over-interpreted your relationship with the farm boy. "Muse" is fine and who knows what may happen. But your description was very powerful and he's obviously affected you. And while we're at it, don't worry about thanking me too much or anything. I was raised by a mother who is big on manners (would you believe the three of us all went to etiquette school? So if you ever need to know which fork to use, just ask :p) and an excess of "thanks" and "sorrys" never hurts anyone.
We have no school tomorrow, so we're taking off for Cape May, New Jersey in the morning. Mom has a house there and my grandparents live there all year long. Mom and Jules are going to a (girls only, thank goodness) baby shower for our neighbor's daughter. So I'l just take down our Christmas lights since we haven't been there since New Year's. So I may be less visible online. But I will check in from time to time.
So au revoir for now Madamoiselle toughie. Talk to you soon.
Oui, je suis très bien, aussi. I'm just being lazy and eating chips right now. I hope you had a phenomenal day : )
Ill be sure to check her out.i love hearing new music.
that's very nice. hope you rock those performances. i enjoy my singing sometimes too, but to others, it most likely causes hearing damage. bleeding even. ah, i'm used to it.
i'm pretty well, trying to keep up at school cuz i came back late (very long story). which basically means stay away from getting detention and fs. but i'm a good girl, so i just gotta stay away from fs. trying. real hard. so, random thing, how were your holidays (they're far behind, i know)? :)
xo rony
Oh and I forgot to tell you in my last post that I think your career plans are really great. We desperately need good teachers and you'll be a great role model for girls (boys too I bet). But I hope you continue to do some writing. I just read your "It Just keeps getting Later" blog and wrote very well with beautiful imagery ("Knight in dented armor" is just fantastic!). Your description of your boy friend was perfect. I can see his "ice green eyes," and tan skin (I'm pretty pale except in summer), and know how his rough hands must make you feel. Is he one of your reasons for interest in contra-dance?
So anyway, be the best teacher around but continue to write on the side
Thank You... I Love Tinkerbell Im Getting A Tattoo Of Her Lmao.. And I Love How Long Your Hair Is I Am Sooo Jelous Wish Mine Was That Long... It Takes Years For Mine To Grow Just A Few Inches... How Long Have You Been Growing It For?
Cool, sadly ive never heard of her .Do you recommend any of her songs? any favorites?
Bonjour Madamoiselle Wren, Comment allez vous? je suis en ecole, ugh!! I'm sorry for the goofy French but you said bonjour yesterday and I wanted to ask you, parlez vous francais?
Yeah, I guess at least some girls can be pretty jealous. Mean girls are almost as bad as mean boys except mean boys can usually punch harder. The one boy in your class sounds like my friend Ricki. He's a natural and was always the best in class. The other two, well... I must admit I never thought of ballet class as a pickup spot but I guess the odds are right. The only thing is, even here near the city, boys who dance take a lot of abuse. I got picked on a lot and got called a sissy even by some of the girls in class (a little jealousy perhaps!!). So these guys must really like some of the girls to be willing to put up with getting teased. I agree that behavior like that can be distracting and take away some of the fun.
Stereotypes are really the worst, aren't they? Every area has different strengths and weaknesses. I actually like DC because there's lots to do (especially in the arts) but the weather can be pretty miserable in the summer. I have never been hoe schooled but think it's stupid to criticize kids who do. I think you can learn just as much (maybe more) at home and you can do lots of things outside the school environment. I find that a lot of my friends here and on Facebook and other sites are home schooled, even online schools. And that's cool with me.
The school I go to is a charter school and you have to pass an audition (not really that hard) in either dance, drama, or music to get in. I went to a catholic school through 8th grade and that wasn't too bad. But then I got a scholarship to a very prominent all-boys Catholic High school and that was really awful. There were a bunch of bullies who decided I was their new target and it was pretty bad. And I didn't want to tell my mom because she was really happy about me getting into this school. But finally my younger sister heard about the bullying and said if I didn't, she would. So that led to the audition and a new school that I like a lot.
Wow, you were a "male" model--that sounds like fun. I think Asian cultures are more comfortable with swapping gender roles that western countries where it's always associated with being gay and stuff. I'm sure you made a cute boy. Shakespeare always has girls dressing up as boys partly because all the actors where boys when he wrote the play. Also boys could do things that girls couldn't--not like now.My Aunts took Julia and me to see a Rock Opera version of "Two Gentlemen of Verona" on Sunday afternoon and the one female character and her maid cross-dressed to try to fool her lover.
What I love about costumes is how they combine love of fashion with the theatrical plus there's history involved too. The history of fashion is really fascinating to me. Last fall two girls and I did the costumes for "The Adventures of Tom Sawyer" which (coincidence) is set in Missouri I think. We used mostly donated clothes or stuff we bought. The boys wore jeans that were cut to capri length with straps we sewed on to make them look 19th century and big shirts and straw hats. But we did make some of the things like petticoats for the girls which was real fun to do and easier than it sounds.
Omigosh, you love thrift shops and vintage stores too. Fabulous!! I would love to go shopping with you because you have a great sense of humor and appreciate old stuff. And my mom and older sister taught me to love bargains. When you find something great that's also cheap, it can make your whole day :p
I never had heard of contra dancing. But of course I looked it up. It looks interesting like some of the dancing you see in Jane Austen movies. Do you contra dance.
Oh one more thing I meant to tell you. Ricki and I saw "Billy Elliot" two weeks ago (my aunts gave me two tickets for Christmas). It was wonderful, better than the movie because of the live dancing. The dancers (boy and girls) were really terrific.
Gotta go to class now, but have a wonderful day. Au Revoir.
I love owl city and lights. They were all i listened to in 2010 lol (i still listen to them but not as much as then.) Awesome!
hello there ren. well i think we have loads of other things in common judging by your bio. except for that choir thing, i'm hopeless at singing as well. *laughs very weirdly*
very nice to meet you, how are you? :)
