I am thinking about either dying my hair all black or dark dark brown then putting colors at the bottom half. And, I just want a haircut that compliments my asiann face. Help?

I have very thick, coarse hair. It's dry, and a little on the longer side. What I want is a cut that could be styled to look professional some days, and casual the next. I have Dark brown eyes and pale skin I also have dark brown hair. I basically use black eyeliner and mascara but i want to do something different. I want to use some colors but i just don't know what colors will look good on me.

My hair used to be long, and like the spontaneous person I am, I just walked in my bathroom and cut it all off one day and I've hated it since, so I'm growing it back out but it just looks horrible and so awkward. What hairstyles or cuts can I do to make it bearable until it's finally long again?
