What kind of hair do you have? Straight, curly, kinky, etc? There is no "trick" to growing hair, what you have to learn is what your hair is missing and give it what it needs so that it retains length and grows. For some it's moisture, for others it's protein. There is no miracle shampoo or product, but there are good regimens that help with growth.

From what I've heard is horse shampoo makes your hair grow faster! Also Hair and Nail pills definitely work for MOST people! you can find them pretty much at any store liek Walmart, Walgreens etc. Also getting regualr trims helps keep your hair healthy and Some people have told me that putting their hair up in pony tails works for them... I heard about castor oil and I used it for my eyebrows....it's real magic. You can apply a few drops on a cotton pad and masage it into your roots...the result is guaranteed....

Take hair and nail vitamins, even prenatal vitamins (it shouldn't hurt you, we talked about it in cosmetology school). Also brush your hair 100 to 1000 strokes a day, seriously, it works. Despite most rumors having your hair trimmed does not help, my mom always told me it did until I went to school and we learned hair myths. Mostly I would just be sure to take your daily vitamins and drink lots of water. :) Hope I helped!

You should also try some hot oil treatmeants and tea rinses that help you retain moisture in your hair (so it's not as frizzy :P) :
Burdock root:

Green tea also contains vitamin C, vitamin E and panthenol, which are all common ingredients in conditioners. Vitamin E restores dry or damaged hair, while vitamin C guards against damage from UV radiation. Panthenol, a provitamin, strengthens and softens hair and prevents split ends.
Black tea :
Reduces shedding (sure does!) - the caffeine in black tea blocks the hormone DHT which causes shedding.
Thickens hair
Side note: 1 cup of black tea contains more caffeine than a cup of coffee!

Helps thicken hair
Rosemary tea:
Helps stimulate hair growth by increasing blood flow

Vitamins and Supplements also help with hair : Leesha mentioned hair and nails vitamins like biotin, vitamin C, etc I've also heard MSM and NAC also help people to grow their hair.

Eating right and having protein in your diet will keep your hair healthy and strong on top of the supplements.

It's nothing fancy, you brew one of the teas mentioned below for whatever reason, and then you put it all over the hair for about 5-30 minutes and then rinse. Doing it 2 - 3 times per month should help and it'd be a natural way to help you to keep length so that it grows better. You can also try deep conditioing with a hair masque every week to keep your hair healthy and soft and balanced so that it can continue to grow with shedding too much or anything like that...

While there is no natural way to make your hair grow faster, there are ways to ensure it grows better and healthier. It does take time and commitment to have beautiful hair, even if you actually have a head of good hair. No oil or medicine can do the job permanently; with many having to opt for surgical procedures.

However it depends on what your budget is when searching for a solution. A good way to decide would be to compare costs and see what fits the bill.
