Probably the easiest thing to do given that you like your hair black is to add some interest by doing the tips a different color. Then the black will fade gradually into the new color and vice versa. You can try different colors. Reds will always work with black, but if you want to be adventurous, try some purples. I would definitely advise NOT doing it yourself. The best choice is a professional salon, but a friend who knows what she/he is doing is okay too.

The other thing you can do is add highlights that will go all through your hair. I think this would look really cute on you, but this is definitely a job for a professional IMHO

Most people don't except hair colors because they are to focused on the hairstyle try something like curls,or a wavy hair do.
