Ankle Sprains

I messed up my ankle late February, and it hasn't healed yet. I had stepped off a step carrying a rabbit cage, and my foot collapsed, rolling to the side and popping and then the other side and popping. After about two minutes I could get up and walk with minimal pain, but it slowly worsened, and by that night I couldn't walk, and stayed like that for two days, with only a little swelling. It healed after that until it hit a point where it stopped. It didn't bug me walking normally, though I found myself leaning on the side, but only when I twisted and turned it, which is a problem since I am a competitive shooter, and can't get into kneeling position. I went to the chiropractor twice who completely adjusted me which helped a little tiny bit, and tried turmeric which didn't do anything. Just this weekend I sprained it again,once again only minimal swelling, this time on the top and the side muscle feels very taunt, and there's a slightly sharp pain on top when I attempt to walk normally. What should I do? I really need it to get better, but I think my mom thinks I'm exaggerating a bit, so I don't think she'll take me to the doctor. Any home remedies? Is it that big of a deal, or more important than I think?
