hey, I dont know if this is the same thing, but my sister grinds her teeth in her sleep so the dentist had a clear retainer made for her. She has been sleeping with is for a long time and she never complained about it. But she doesnt eat with it so not sure about staining.

Well, what does your orthodontist think? How long will you have 2 wear it? Here are 3links that give some info, but don't necessarily give a flat "yes" or "no" But I guess it looks like a clear retainer would work ok and be less noticable.

I use to wear one for grinding my teeth, but it did give me that gag feelig but that was more because of the plastic like taste. I only had to wear it at night and did have the bar. My ex use to wear the retainer with the bar but on on the bottom teeth. I think it looks fine with any of them.

dont get a regular retainer they suck!!!! seriously i have one and its so awkward when you have to take it out to eat or somthing in public and you even should take it out when you drink somthing cuz the retainer get stinky really fast its gross +o( i have to carry around a mini toothbrush to brush it lol.. so yeah dont get a retainer

Should I get a clear retainer or one with the bar across my teeth?
I'm getting my braces off soon and I want to get a clear retainer but my friends say it's uncomfortable, it stains easily, and it's hard to wear, but then I don't want to get a regular retainer because I want to look like I'm not wearing a retainer and I am a really big gagger so I don't want to have that feeling all the time! Help!
