Special occasions require a distinct and unique makeup able to enhance your beauty and hide unwanted flaws. When it comes to makeup for special occasions you don’t necessarily need specialists in order to obtain a flawless, perfect look. You just need to follow a few simple rules and you’ll get an impeccable makeup.
An elegant outfit needs a special makeup. Choose makeup
according to your outfit. Before anything, decide what are you are
going to wear and only after, choose the type of makeup. Matching
makeup and outfit doesn’t necessarily means an interesting and
great combination, on the contrary, it can be a little dull or it
can become a sign of exaggerated preciosity.
If you have a sequined dress, avoid a glittering makeup or one in sparkling colors, and pick instead a smokey eyes makeup. If you are wearing strong colors, makeup should be neutral and natural.
Lips vs eyes. The first things that someone notices to a
woman are the lips or the eyes. You should always avoid
accentuating both of them as you run the risk of looking like a
clown. It’s very easy. If you choose a darker lipstick, use for eyes lighter
and more discreet shades, and mascara.
On the other hand, if you o accentuate the eyes, keep your lips in natural colors. If you want to chromatically balance your makeup, start with the parts you want to emphasize.
Basic steps. When applying makeup you should respect all
the right steps. First, remove any makeup or impurities on your
skin, and then apply a moisturizing cream. If you don’t use a
moisturizing cream, your makeup will lack glitter, and it will be
like a mask, while wrinkles will be even more visible.
Use a concealer if you need it. An illuminator gives luminosity to your skin, masks fatigue and enhances the traits of your face. Apply it under the eyes, along the nose, on the chin and above the eyelashes tracing lines and using your fingers in order to mix them.
The foundation's shade should be as close as possible to your skin tone and it should cover your neck and neck opening. Powder helps fixing all the products you are going to apply from now on.
Apply a thin layer of powder using a sponge or a brush, and never use your fingers, on the cheeks, chin, nose, forehead and eyelids, and if you are using a strong color for your lips, apply powder on the lips too in order to better fix the lipstick.
Eye makeup. Start by applying the eyeshadow, the eyeliner, eyebrow pencil and mascara. It’s up to you to choose the products you are going to use for eye makeup, but mascara should always be applied. If you have decided to accentuate the lips, start with them before the eye makeup.
When applying blush smile so you can see better your cheekbones. If you get a big contrast between your cheekbones and the rest of your face, use a translucent powder to fade out the color excess.
Lip makeup. Lip liner is optional, but if you decide to use it, choose a shade that is close to the color of the lipstick. Start at the center of the upper lip and follow the line to the edges, and do the same on the lower lip. If you use a lip liner, apply the lipstick and the lip gloss using a brush.
Shimmery makeup. The most important rule is not to use glitter in more than two places at once. For example, if you have used nacre on the eyelids and cheekbones, don’t use glittering powder for the neckline. For a dense, metallic color for eyelids, mix the eye shadow-powder and a bit of water. Add nacre in the inner corner of the eyes to give luminosity to your look.
Smokey eyes. This is the perfect choice for a sexy look.
Start by applying a nude eyeshadow on the upper eyelid, then cover
it with a gray or brown slightly nacre eyeshadow. The dark matte
eyeshadow is next that has to be applied from the center of the
eyelid towards the outer edge. Fade out the eyeshadow using an ear
stick. Under the arch of the eyebrow apply white, cream-colored or
pearled pink eyeshadow, or any light color.
Make a contour to the lower eyelid using black or gray eyeshadow, starting from the outer corner towards the center of the eyelid.
Smokey purple. For a smokey look you can also use purple, a color that flatters anyone. Make an eye contour using a brown eyeliner, then apply a matte purple eyeshadow on the upper eyelid using your finger, fading out towards the eyebrow.
