Madonna had prepared a lot of surprises for us for the fall season. Her well known brand, Material Girl, is expanding, bringing a lot of new and interesting beauty products. Moreover, some changes have taken place in the fashion department as well, so learn more about the brand's plans for the near future.
Madonna's teen brand is preparing to expand this fall, adding a
significant amount of new products that range from party dressers,
intimates, an expanded denim line and beauty products. And, while
clothing items are not so much of a stretch compared to the
company's previous products, a new beauty line certainly is, so it
will be really interesting to see what the famous mother-daughter
duo will have in store for us.
Apparently, the beauty line will consist of nail polishes, lip
glosses and glosses, body sprays and lotions, which will debut on
August 15. “It was so much fun getting to pick all of my favorite
scents for the Material Girl body
products and lip glosses.” Lourdes, Madonna’s 14-year-old
daughter, who is also public face of the brand and helps oversee
creative direction and design, told WWD: “The body products have
fun names like Wicked Watermelon, Flirty Fruit, Midnight Magnolia
and Sinful Sugar. I chose scents that I loved.”
Lanie List, chief merchandising officer at Iconix Brand Group
highlighted the important role Lola has had in the development of
the new products: “Lola is 14, but she lives in New York City and
has a very famous mom, so she has a very sophisticated eye,”
explained List. “Lola is here once a month and sometimes more. She
brings stuff from her own closet for inspiration. For the bath and
body products she probably had 100 scents in front of her. She has
a very mature approach to product development.”
However, she also stated that everything is supervised by Madonna
herself: “Madonna definitely has creative input also. It’s a
collaboration between the two. If Lola goes to a place with an idea
that Madonna doesn’t think is appropriate for the brand, she’ll
veto it. She’s a branding expert”.
The beauty line will also include eye palettes, however, these will
only be launched a month later, on September 15, along with
dresses.
Madonna, Iconix Brand Group Inc. and Macy’s, also decided that the
new outwear will be available only on October 15.
