Finding out what face shape you have can be confusing.

There are 6 Basic face shapes: oval, round, square, heart, rectangular and diamond. Depending on the shape of your face you can determine what haircuts are suited to enhance your features and what styles to avoid.



Here are the ways that can help you measure and determine the shape of your face and know how to pick hairstyles that will suit you best.

  • using a measuring tape or a ruler measure across the top of your cheekbones and write the number on a piece of paper.

  • measure your jaw line from where it starts to where it ends.

  • measure your forehead from the middle of your hairline and brows.

  • measure the distance from the hairline to the bottom of the chin.


Oval



The length will be equal to 1 ½ times the width.

Oval face shapes have well-proportioned and balanced features - a narrow forehead, wide cheekbones and a small chin - and suit any hairstyle, long or short, straight or curly.

Oblong/Long



The width of the forehead is about the same as just below the cheekbones. The face is long and sometimes the forehead is very high.
