Keep on-trend this season with some of the hottest and most beautiful hairstyles. Summer 2011 braids, twists and ponytails are relaxed and loose, yet feminine and classy. Get ready to change up your look in an instant choosing among these versatile, summer-appropriate styling options.
The warm season is all about effortless slightly messy, yet
ladylike and lovely hairstyles. And summer 2011 comes
with an array of styling options so flattering and easy to wear
regardless the occasion. From the oh-so-famous simple, side braid
and the classic pony to more complex twists, think bold this
season. Transform yourself into the ultimate sweetheart and let
your hair do the talking.
One of the easiest ways to upgrade you look is to choose a braid.
Even though they are considered as being rather girlie, braids can also be
deliciously chic and innocent. Maybe it doesn't have a high-impact
vibe, yet the side braid is sensual and hot especially if you leave
a few flyaways to frame your face. Keep in mind that skinny plaits
are totally unflattering. You hair should look healthy and thick
(Valentino, Hermès).
For a more bohemian take, the milkmaid braids are the answer
(Erdem). For an edgier approach, Givenchy's Gothic version is the
ticket, while for the moments when you feel stuck for style
inspiration, go for those adorable thin braids as seen at Lacoste
and Charlotte Ronson.
The timeless ponytail is top of the trend list this summer. Its
endless versatility is undeniable whether we say glamorous or
laid-back. No hairstyle seems to combine casual and elegant better
than the pony. Therefore, season after season, the catwalks are
awash with different versions of this old faithful. From retro
ponytails as spotted at Celine and Calvin Klein, where the messy
effect adds a sexy flair, to extremely shiny and refined as seen at
Chanel and BCBG Max Azria, get ready to make a style statement
opting for this flirty hairstyle.
Don't be afraid to flaunt your gorgeous tresses pulling them into a
cute, modern ponytail. Whether you are getting ready for a hot date
or a day at the office, this is the style to wear. For a more
sophisticated touch, take a lock of hair and hide the elastic band.
Issey Miyake or Giambattista Valli show you how to achieve this
look.

Twist, twist, twist! If you find ponytails and braids boring,
you can add some attitude to your summer look choosing a twisted
style. And there are so many sources of inspiration both for casual
and formal occasions. In fact, this season's twists are so
versatile and can perfectly embody the all-out glamour, but also
the super sexy, fun casual style.
At Phillip Lim, the side twist adds a fresh and nonchalant feeling,
while at Gucci, the twisted knot is so chic and modern. Sharpen up
your style with a severe, slicked twisted updo as seen at Yves
Saint Laurent or make a real red-carpet staple choosing the minimal
'do as spotted at Donna Karan. Difficult you say? Not at all. Just
make a side parting and a ponytail rolled into itself. Next, use
pins in order to keep the twist into place.
As for the Luca Luca 'Yacht Knot', start by making loose waves
using a large-barreled tong. Then, part your hair and section off
the top and bottom. Next, twist both top sections back, pin them
into a knotted bun, and wrap the remaining section around
it.
