With all the delicious food around, women gain an average of four pounds during the winter holiday season. Check out these tips to prevent the much-dreaded holiday weight gain.
When you think about the holidays to come, you inevitably think
about all the delicious, traditional foods that you will be able to
enjoy. However, although it can be hard to stay away from the tasty
dishes you are used to during the holidays, you have to think about
holiday weight gain, as well. Although all the traditional holiday
foods can be fattening, this does not mean that you have to avoid
them completely, but to just eat in a smart way.
There are numerous different ways in which you can keep weight off
during the holidays. First of all, you can try to cut some calories
by taking off the skin of the turkey before eating it and also
avoid eating yams with marshmallows, mashed potatoes with gravy and
beans with butter.
All in all, try to keep it simple as much as possible. In addition,
you should stay away from sugar. This includes avoiding beer, wine
and sodas. The dessert should be excluded as well, or at least
halved. Moreover, make sure that you control what you eat.
In order to make portion control
easier, you can simply skip supper and have a healthy
breakfast together with a good lunch. Additionally, you should try
drinking eight ice water glasses per day. This will help your body
burn fat quicker.

There are also some holiday healthy eating tips that you might
want to follow. Besides what was mentioned above, you could also
try and organize a buffet instead of a traditional holiday lunch
and dinner. This way, you will not have to sit down at the table
with your entire family and have to eat as much as they do. This
will make it easier for you to choose only healthy foods for eating
and at the same time spend time with your family and friends.
If you are a caffeine lover and you know you can handle it, you
could drink some black coffee, as well. In turn, this will raise
your metabolic rate and therefore help you in the fat burning
process.
On the other hand, if you know you cannot drink coffee or make a
buffet, just make sure to work out for an hour or so before eating
the holiday meal. This will boost your
metabolism and keep it that way for approximately four
hours which in turn will help you avoid gaining weight.
