Versus, Versace's diffusion line is being relaunched! The Versus Versace x J.W. Anderson capsule collection was thus awaited with enthusiasm by fashionistas who loved the “young heart of Versace” and its rock chic component. Unsurprisingly, the launch caused a lot of buzz which was completely justified as it marked the beginning of a new era in the label's history.
Donatella Versace herself admitted that the innovation is the desired effect: “The launch of Versus Versace will be an incredible event, bringing together everything that I love: fashion, music, DJs, young people, and their amazing energy. This mix of music and fashion captures the essence of Versus Versace, a label for a new global tribe.” It sure was. Live performances from Grimes, Dead Sara, and Angel Haze enchanted the audience and put the new creations into proper perspective.
The new Versus Versace x J.W Anderson collection was divided into three groups: all black ensembles, colorful outfits and fab black and white outfits for both sexes. Resisting the temptations to go back to the archieves and capitalize on its previous success, the brand took the rebellious spirit of rock 'n' roll which was always ingrained in its essence and brought a modern approach which proves extremely relevant, especially when we consider the major punk revival the industry is creating with some of the latest collections.
At times, the new Versus Versace x J.W Anderson capsule collection felt similar to Versace fall 2013 collection which also centered around the spectacular edgy ensembles. Still, Anderson's sporty architectural accents quickly changed the vibe bringing a cool androgynous flair. The beauty choices were equally interesting bringing flashbacks from the '90s. One thing was clear: edgy, bold options are the future of Versus Versace. The presentation of the new Versus Versace 2013 collection attracted some surprising celebs. Perhaps the biggest one was Woody Allen who was accompanied by his wife Soon-Yi Previn. Mena Suvari and Joe Jonas were other A-listers attended the event.
