Kate Middleton's pregnancy looks have wowed us so far. The Duchess of Cambridge proved that maternity wear can be really chic and stylish always stepping out looking impeccably. Now, with Kate's baby bump visibly on show and her morning sickness problem gone, some of the world's top designers sketched some dresses for the expectant Duchess.
Women's Wear Daily had this cool initiative and asked different fashion designers and legendary houses to imagine and sketch some fashionable maternity clothes they would like to see Kate wear. So, which are the names to create dreamy designs for the beautiful Duchess? Karl Lagerfeld, Chloé, Donna Karan, Alexis Mabille, Nina Ricci, Vera Wang, Amanda Wakeley, Andrew Gn, Huishan Zhang, Lela Rose, Nanette Lepore, Nicole Miller, and Lorry Newhouse.
Karl Lagerfeld opted for a gorgeous navy-blue with plunging neckline saying that, “I think this dress is very much in her taste.” Andrew Gn made an egg-shaped dress matched with the brand's 'Duchess' bag in white croc, while Amanda Wakeley imagined a green dress with adorned shoulders. “A softly draped cocktail dress from our spring collection, but in an exclusive made-to-order mallard green, a shade that I think would be amazing on her coloring... It is youthful yet demure with a beautiful embellished shoulder,” Wakeley said.
Nanette Lepore created a fadeaway printed organza dress, Nina Ricci put Kate in a stretch silk printed crepe dress with black lace details, while Donna Karan's design is utterly elegant and chic. “Kate Middleton is elegant, sensual, timeless. This is a dress she could wear forever, at any age, at any stage, during and after her pregnancy,” Karan explained.
Huishan Zhang, whose creations are meant to suit the confident, feminine, cultured and elegant woman, said about his dress that, “This evening look is in fine velvet textured with Dutch satin.... The bottom and the back are embroidered with eyelet in a Chinese flower shape.” Check out the 13 sketches made for the Dutchess of Cambridge!
