The Meadham Kirchhoff for Topshop collection will be launched on November 21 and it's the retailer's biggest designer collaboration up to date. This might also be one of the most eclectic lines we've seen this holiday season.
What persuaded the label to join forces with talented designer duo Edward Meadham and Benjamin Kirchhoff? The answer came from Kate Phelan, Topshop's creative director, who told WWD.com that: "Meadham Kirchhoff have been showing collections in London for around 8 years, they are an incredible talent, original and inspiring. Combining great narratives with strong characters, their clothes are delicate and romantic with a perverse twist that keep the collections modern and innovative."
The vivaciously pigmented designs demonstrate the talent the two designers were gifted with, but keep in mind that most of these creations are not for the fainthearted!
The fourth Meadham Kirchhoff for Topshop collaboration is titled simply "Cherrys" and represents the designers' idea of a rock band. However, a simple glance at the new options might not make one think about the typical rock band. The explanation? There were many different elements that influenced the new line: "The overall aesthetic was influenced by Marilyn Manson and the Spooky Kids, Kembra Pfahler and glam rock. It is an enormous and all encompassing collection which will offer a myriad of choices for any customer to adapt or reject as they see fit," the designers explained. Moreover, the fictional band is comprised of four characters, each with its own style personality: Cherry Cherie, Cherry Satanika, Cherry Pikka and Cherry Blossom.
The Meadham Kirchhoff for Topshop collection features no less than 89 eclectic pieces. Attention grabbing dresses, colorful cropped tops, printed jackets, graphic shirts, quirky shoes and several 70s inspired accessories are among the main options included in the new line which has everything one might possibly need for a cool look - even socks. Given the great diversity of options the new Meadham Kirchhoff for Topshop line offers, it's no surprise that prices vary tremendously, depending on the piece in question. The cheapest item from the new line is a pair of socks which retails for $6.43( £4) while the priciest piece from the new line is a $1,205 (£750) Mongolian jacket.
