Designer Mary Katrantzou took the audience present at the unveiling of her fall 2013 show at LFW by surprise with a totally dark and dramatic lineup. Check out highlights of the collection!
Mary Katrantzou's fall 2013 collection totally took us by
surprise and probably most of the audience present at the show's
debut at London fashion Week as the designer known for her amazing
vivacious digital prints has now opted to go darker with her
designs and infuse a little bit of McQueenish fierceness into her
lineup. Interesting? Yes. Innovative? Totally. Worthy of praise?
Definitely, so let's take a plunge into the obscure with the
avant-garde fashion collection signed Mary Katrantzou for fall 2013
and take suggestions for the new season styleover!
Although not many would label the majority of the outfits featured
in the designer's collection (designer who's relatively a newbie in
the runway fashion industry by the way and collaborated
successfully with Topshop on several occasions) as being all that
wearable, this kind of artistry and high creativity level are not
quite as common, meaning you should definitely keep an eye on the
label's designs if you're all about statement, unique
pieces!
The Mary Ktrantzou fall 2013 collection show opened with a
gorgeous duo-chromatic black-grey asymmetric ensemble that didn't
seem to focus on emphasizing the silhouette but settled on
accentuating the shoulders instead and allowed its architectural
shape to deliver the right visual impact. Next, the designer
ventured into the world of vintage scenery photographs and
transposed various images to the fabrics, effect that gave the
collection a bold yet totally seductive allure.
Prints are the designer's signature and it seems that she's as
capable of playing with monochromatic, sort-of-melancholic motifs
as she is with fun, floral prints and bright digital patterns. A
quick glimpse at the lovely lineup should be enough to get you
hooked on the designs or at least get you to develop an admiration
for the impeccable craftsmanship the designer proves to master with
each collection launch.
The dramatic effect brought by the prints and achromatic tones was
balanced or emphasized, depending on the look, by architectural,
vintage-classic and masculine-inspired cuts, so browse through the
lovely display of dresses, cool trenches, skirt separates and
business chic suits revealed in satin-finish, leather, airy fabrics
and others and draw inspiration for your new bolder fall 2013
fashion style!
