Ultra-flirty silhouettes meet Punk chic elements in Gwen Stefani's new L.A.M.B Fall 2012 ready-to-wear collection. Gwen Stefani takes us back into the 60s to get an insight into the chic wardrobe of sweater girls.
Designers with a career in music industry just can't leave their
roots behind. Gwen Stefani
as one of the hot talents of the past decades in pop, rock and Punk
music just couldn't deny her fondness for glammed up and statement
looks. In spite of the use of neon yellow and other bright hues,
the L.A.M.B Fall 2012 RTW collection radiates ultrafemme
sophistication and a youthful vibe. Mod fashion played a crucial
role in the creative process which resulted in this versatile and
retro chic ensemble parade.
The iconic trendsetter status of Twiggy and the music of Nancy
Sinatra set the perfect atmosphere for the dazzling fashion show.
Gwen Stefani revealed to 'Rolling Stone' that, “I came across an
editorial of a modern day Sixties sweater girl,[...] This took me
back to the early days of rock music and rebellious teenagers of
the Sixties, who have influenced almost every era since then,
including punk and ska.”
Eye-popping graphical prints along with the oh-so-popular
houndstooth patterns guaranteed the old time glam effect of these
outfits. Gwen used numerous of the cult design trends of the 60s in
her latest collection in order to provide the style pack with a
repertoire of wearable and at the same time punked-up looks. Pop
culture always served as a rich source of inspiration for designers
like Gwen Stefani, Vivienne Westwood
and Marc Jacobs.
This time the singer-turned-designer builds up a collection
which features some of her favorite outfit elements and
accessorizing ideas. As she stated these are , “the other images I
have always loved and worn throughout my life." Quirky shades and
outfit elements are turned into IT style staples. Gwen Stefani
succeeded in adding a preppy and classy tint to gorgeous pleated
skirts and leather jackets. Outfits complemented with platform
pumps emanate grown-up glamor and refinement.
The color palette lines up a myriad of pop shades like: red, white,
navy, olive green and ecru together with voguish neon yellow. All
these colors are modern edge to casual chic looks. In addition to
basics we have loads of iconic accessories like hip ankle boots,
jewelry by Noir for L.A.M.B. and retro chic Morgenthal Frederics
cat eye readers. Gwen Stefani paid special attention to the tiniest
details to flaunt her evolving design skills and techniques.
