The eight year hiatus is officially over as the Atelier Versace brand has made its first appearance on the couture runway since 2004. All signs seem to point out that the wait has not been in vain as the collection features an array of ultra sophisticated, to die for gowns.
The much awaited return of Donatella Versace on the haute couture scene
was well rewarded by an eye-catching array of elegant, feminine and
slightly futuristic gowns that enchanted the celebrity packed
audience consisting of Cameron Diaz, Diane Kruger, Abbie Cornish or
Anna Dello Russo.
The return to the couture scene was far from being casually
planned. Instead, with her initiative, the designer plans to
highlight the influence of luxury fashion: “it’s important in this
kind of economy to send the message that fashion is relevant.”
Bringing drama, sophistication and sexiness to the fashion scene
once again, the brand highlights the sirens theme we encountered in
the Versace spring 2012 RTW
collection, this time with a more cutting edge approach
that leaves no room for shyness regarding fashion expression. With
body hugging silhouettes, high splits, sheer details and bold
tones, the 15 piece collection confirmed once again the ultra
recognizable sophisticated yet edgy flair of the brand.
With an array of supermodels like Karlie Kloss, Lindsey Wixson,
Arizona Muse, Karmen Pedaru, and Josephine Skriver presenting the
wonderful array of feminine dresses, the impact of the show was
intensely magnified. With lace and metallic accent combos, high
shine and geometric details, the idea that sometimes the most
unlikely contrasts are the ones that end up working best was
convincingly presented.
The daring creations might have gotten all the attention, yet the
beauty choices were no less interesting to watch as high glamed up
ponytails and classy, sultry and ultra seductive smoky eye and nude
lip makeup proved to be the absolutely perfect combo that greatly
contributed to the uber classy allure of each and every piece
presented.
