Opulent divinity and religious clothing inspired Sarah Burton's new designs for Alexander McQueen with a haute creativity level only a true fashion genius can possess!
The new Alexander McQueen fall 2013 collection has
opulence written all over and it seems that critiques love this
heavy display of high fashion garments. It might be the impeccable
craftsmanship the designer is capable of that eventually conquered
the audience - each design took about two weeks to make - or it
could be the fascination with religious details. Religious motifs
were present in a couple of other popular collections this fall
2013 season including the Dolce &
Gabbana fall 2013 collection, but one thing is for certain: the
collection is more couture than prêt-à-porter!
The fact that Alexander McQueen's Creative Director, Sarah Burton,
created her collection while getting close to her due date (the
designer recently gave birth to twins) probably influenced the
number of designs featured in the lineup as only 10 outfits made
their way through the crowd present at the show's unveiling in a
glamorous venue: Paris's Opéra Comique.
The Mcqueen ensembles looked uber-sophisticated revealing almost
historical looking ensembles that were apparently inspired by
opulent religious-linked and medieval royal attire - a bolder take
on the ideas that stood at the base of the Alexander
McQueen pre-fall 2013 collection.
The Alexander McQueen fall 2013 show debuted with a
full-circle skirt featuring bouffant lace sleeves, a collar that
extended up the neck and down the neckline for a higher impact.
A lace overlay that screamed delicacy and excess altogether was
placed over the simple white fabric and that really changed the
look of the outfit. Inspired by communions? Maybe, as their style
and color made the word puritan pop into mind, however things
gradually changed as the collection went from white dresses to
achromatic black and white polka dotted skirt separates that
displayed the popular peplum and short dresses paired with a long
train that looked sort-of-dark but sexy!
The McQueen fall 2013 collection peaked with the dresses that
seemed to be inspired by angelic-medieval royal attire and trust us
when we say that the designs looked right out of a storybook. The
drama factor, which is essential when it comes to the Alexander McQueen label
was not only brought through the designs but also throgh the
feather applications, embellishments and the pearl-encrusted cage
frames that were placed on the model's head, something Kanye might
go for. If you're looking to observe fashion and innovation at its
highest, be sure to check out Alexander McQueen's fall 2013 show
from Paris Fashion Week as it truly is
one-of-a-kind!
