It seems that fashion designers are trying to display
their finest craftsmanship this fall 2012 season as predominantly
the collections feature statement details that capture attention
from first glimpse. One of the brands that is known for leaving a
visible print over fashion each season is Alexander McQueen
and the label's fall 2012 ready-to-wear collection is all and more
than people expected. The new season seems to have inspired
designer Sarah Burton to go for a bolder approach and make a
fashion statement. Fusing vintage with modern details with an edge,
the collection seemed to take a very futuristic turn, one that is
elegant yet sophisticated and romantic at the same time.
The collection displayed the atelier craftsmanship that has
established the McQueen name in the fashion industry, however, the
designs seemed to be destined for the adventurous women who are
seeking to make a style statement. With jacquards featuring
decorations embedded in the fabric, enormous feather details and
heavy ruffles, the collection seemed to tell a story, one of a
romantic, highly fashionable future. As the show progressed, the
stylish ensembles seemed to 'explode' and become more puffed-up as
the show reached an end. The skirts, dresses and coats featured
carefully detailed lines underlined with deluxe elements such as
goat fur, ostrich feather or Mongolian lamb, making them a magnet
for attention.
Ms. Burton said about the collection that:
“The future's usually shown as stark and cold. I wanted lightness,
the sense that the dresses were hovering.”
The dresses presented in the collection also featured a very edgy
style, a bold statement look created through the use of
multi-layered pink organza and feathers, details that gave the
collection that McQueen magical style that we were used to seeing
in the past. 34 beautifully detailed ensembles dominated the runway
at Alexander McQueen, so check out a selection of the entire
collection and pick your new season style inspirations.
