In anticipation of the 2012 London Olympics the New York-based retailer Opening Ceremony launched a capsule collection for Fall/Winter 2012 in collaboration with Adidas Originals. This would be the first collab with Adidas, and it could not have been a better timing for the hipster Manhattan store as we are writing the year of the Olympics.
The cutting-edge fashion label Opening Ceremony didn’t hold in
from its own dorky spirit and created a playful and juvenile
collection keeping in the same time the pay tone of the legendary
sportswear brand Adidas. Vibrant splotched prints, kaleidoscopic
floral motifs and the OC’s iconic bandana patterns recall the 90's
aesthetics combined with brave sartorial designs.
The tech fabrics are staying true to the Olympics spirit applying
neoprene rubber, dry-swim spandex or nylon twills for flexible
moves. You might not go to perform a somersault or swim a freestyle
stroke, but you can still be on the festivity with one of the 70
pieces of the apparel this interesting collaboration offers.
Although the creative director of Opening Ceremony Carol Lim states
other: "The swimming and diving categories are always exciting to
watch. So we made sure to honor that by including a fun swimwear
component!"
By the 90’s the BMX riding was ramping and OC didn’t forget
about this influential element of that period and tailored some
very simple and sleek bike attires for both men and women.
The mini floral poncho is supplied with the practical role of
reversibility and also brings a laid-back elegance to it. By other
pieces as peplum tops, curve-hugging skirts or bodycon dresses OC
tries to approach the female audience with a sport-chic
attitude.
Beside the stunning fabric creations, the collection also features
some exceptionally trendy footwear. Among the twenty pairs of shoes
you will certainly connect with one of them, it depends what are
your directives when it comes to action. If you bring yourself to
do some jogging or even trekking, the hidden-wedge hi-tops are just
made for this activity.
A familiar element of the sportswear giant, the Samba trainer bobs up in the shoe line as a reinterpretation of Opening Ceremony. If you continue on an adventure path, the “amphibian” footwear as the Boat Swim Shoe, plastic Oxford shoes and jelly sandals won’t stop you from exploring the dry land or splashing spontaneously into the water.
The Boat Swim Shoe looks extremely comfortable and men’s fashion
retailer End Clothing also confirms our first impression. The upper
side is made of a mix of mesh and foam textile doted with
paisley-patterned canvas around the ankles finishing with an
anti-slip athletic sole.
In addition to the collection, Opening Ceremony embraces the
classic dress shoe with PVC material turning our brain with their
gutsy idea. Also the reminiscent of our childhood, the jelly
sandals make you hit the nearby playground instantly.
Both the outerwear and footwear from the Adidas x Opening Ceremony
capsule collection are afloat worldwide from early July, but the
luxury store brought up the idea of warming up before the Olympic
games so you might have the chance to interact with the top-notch
products at Covent Garden, London starting on the 19th July.
In case you've missed out this occasion, there is a new
Spring/Summer 2013 collection on the go!
