There's nothing like a super-stylish and inspiring line filled
with uber-cool goodies! So, can we get some awwwws? Why? Because
we've stumbled upon the latest 3.1 Phillip Lim
pre-fall 2013 collection and we're pretty excited to share it with
you. And boy oh boy, there are some hip and chic pieces inspired by
tough bikers.
"It was about journeying into a paradise that’s been lost. But we
often find the thing we’re searching for is right in front of us,"
Lim says. "The whole fantasy of a biker is va va voom, tight,
tight, tight, but this is about ease. At the end of the day, she
has to roll up her sleeves and go to work!"
The designer's pre-fall 2013 collection features trench coats,
bomber jackets with phoenix embroidery, biker vests and jackets,
army parkas, blazers, sweaters, sweatshirts, tanks, pleated shirt
dresses with beaded collars, peplum tops, oversized t-shirts,
leather tops, trench skirts, shorts, track pants, leather-paneled
skinny pants, thigh-high boots, loafers, and some statement-making
Phillip Lim bags. So, it's time to reveal your inner tough babe and
show off your adventurous side!
Well, Lim's creations are cool, easy and chic, and his pre-fall
2013 collection makes no exception to his idea of "beautiful
everyday classics accented with a sense of madness." And we totally
love it! "3.1 is about clothes that refine instead of define. A
refinement that's a bit classic in attitude, but imparts a sense of
individual style, without looking or feeling forced. Confident,
chic, and most of all, effortless," Lim says.
Speaking about his designing process, Phillip Lim revealed in an
interview with Maison Boutique that, "I really take inspiration
from everything around me, I don’t have the luxury of time to
travel so much so I am always aware and present. I start with an
idea that interests me and then develop the collection from there –
often it morphs into something else but the core remains the
same."
Asked whether he has a muse or someone special in mind that he
would love to see wearing his designs, Lim confessed that it's more
about the spirit. "No not one particular person – I think it is
more about the spirit of a person – someone with youthful elegance
that isn’t defined but is refined by their style," the designer
said.
On people in the fashion industry who have the biggest influence on
him, Lim admitted that, "There are so many inspiring people in our
industry it would be unfair to name just one – I think it is really
rewarding meeting and working with people who bring something new
to what I do."
