Alexa Chung goes on a shopping spree with Lucky Magazine. The lovely 28-year-old TV presenter has fun while flicking through the racks, choosing a gazillion pieces that perfectly match her boy/girl fashion approach, styling her shopping companion, makeup artist and friend Tamah K., and dancing. Take a peek!
Alexa Chung goes on a
shopping spree with Lucky magazine. The
model-turned-presenter-turned-fashion designer-turned-host of
Lifetime's competition series 24 Hour Catwalk, who also won the
public-voted British Style Award at the recent British Fashion
Awards, admits that, "I haven't been shopping in ages!". With an
inimitable, unique style, Alexa says she doesn't have a stylist.
"Not ever", she told Lucky.
The lovely star, who has recently been made an ambassador for the
British Fashion Council, says that, "I moved to America four days
before the show started. So I wear lots of what I already had.. and
I work with Chanel, so I wear some of that."
While flicking through the racks, the 28-year-old Brit It-girl
finds a floor length polka dotted skirt with a high slit up the
thigh and says that, "I like how everything's kind of low-key sexy.
How sick is that? Really plain and grandma but then there's the
slit."
Famous for her eccentric style, Ms Chung said in the March 2012
issue of ELLE UK that, "I don't ever presume that people have
copied the way I dress. I comment that I like what someone's
wearing and then a friend will say, 'What? Your outfit?' and I
realise that's why I like it. My mum always points out girls who
sort of look the same as me."
On her shopping spree with Lucky, the 24 Hour Catwalk star also
gives her friend advice on what to buy. In fact, Alexa had the
chance to show off her styling skills for Superga's
spring/summer 2012 campaign. While at Narnia, a vintage and
consignment shop around the corner from Reformation that lives up
to its name, she tells Lucky that, "I like the way there's lots of
themes... Navajo seems to be the thing right now."
Besides being a fashion muse for girls around the world, Alexa is
also a talented designer. The Brit beauty has a collaboration with
US brand Madewell for which she created a second collection for
fall/winter 2011-2012.
Speaking about being a designer, Ms Chung told ELLE's March 2012
issue that, "The journey I've gone on has been from just liking
clothes in Topshop to trying to understand about actual
fashion - I had never even been to a show until a few years ago.
Now I know more, I can see that being a designer is a f***** hard
slog. I want to make sure I'm helping if I can."
When it comes to fashion choices, it seems that Alexa knows exactly
what she likes. If in an interview with Company magazine she
admitted that she wishes she'd never worn Ugg boots, this time she
told Lucky that she loves jumpers. "I have way too many navy
jumpers. I just can't seem to get enough," she said. And this time
around, she opted for tangerine.
Alexa also created her own version of the BBC Children in Need's
iconic Pudsey Bear using midnight blue velvet and featuring a white
bandana with embroidered red hearts. "I've grown up with BBC
Children in Need and it's always amazing to see the power it has in
bringing the UK together to help disadvantaged children. The
lengths people go to, to raise money is extraordinary and this was,
I hope, my way of making a difference," she stated in an
interview.
When finally heading to APC in SoHo, where the style star has
shopped for years, Alexa told Lucky magazine that, "APC was the
first store that I really got into. I can buy something here and it
looks good for every. It's not trendy."
It seems that the gorgeous fashionista and the magazine's reporter
had a lot of fun on their shopping adventure. Alexa Chung didn't
just model and choose a gazillion pieces that perfectly matched her
boy/girl aesthetic, but she also styled her shopping companion,
makeup artist and friend Tamah K. and danced with APC's Resort 2012
collection. Well, the photos speak for themselves! Take a peek!
