Boy oh boy, we're under a spell! We've just come across the
latest Spell 'Desert Island' lookbook and we must admit we're
completely hooked by the impressive range of to-die-for clothing
pieces and cool accessories. Well, you should just have a nosey at
these goodies and see it for yourself! Still, be careful as
everything in this collection is absolutely fabulous and
bewitching!
Photographed by Johnny Abegg, the latest Spell lookbook is set in
an otherworldly landscape representing the designers' very own
desert island oasis. So, in the warm spring sunshine the duo had
the idea to create a little oasis with bamboo sticks, rope, crochet
throws and cushions. Elizabeth and Isabella Briedis' newest
collection is filled with floating fabrics in tie dye and leopard
print, lace and silky suede, hand crocheted fringing, tassels and
hundreds of hand stitched cowrie shells.
As usual, the already famous duo manages to bring a wow-worthy
line packed full with statement-making stunners. "Spell has always
been a true creative, she studied fashion, graphic design and fine
art before eventually finding her way over to jewellery. I used to
be a film editor, which is handy because I can edit our Spell
videos & photo shoots myself," Elizabeth revealed in an
interview.
The newest Spell spring/summer 2013 collection includes a
jaw-dropping parade of jewelry pieces but also an array of
notice-me-now clothes, boots and bags. And once again, one can see
their love for the feeling given when combining feathers, leather
and turquoise, and other natural materials like shells and bone,
crystals, silk and cotton.
In an interview with surfsister.com.au, Elizabeth spoke about what
inspires them, the design process and revealed some of the greatest
moments so far for Spell. "One of the highlights was moving into
our new working space! Two years ago we were working out of a tiny
mezzanine level in a factory, it was a shoebox! We were literally
working on top of each other! Now we rent a huge light filled
space. And every photo shoot we do is a highlight - it really
allows our creative juices to flow all over the place! We're always
on such a high after a shoot," she said.
