Taylor Swift had donated fellow pop star Kesha $250,000 that the multiple Grammy winner called 'show of support'. Taylor joins other stars in publicly supporting Kesha after legal battle Dr. Duke, whom Kesha also accused of sexual assault.
Taylor Swift's representative confirmed donating $250,000 to fellow pop star Kesha, who is in a midst of a nasty legal battle. Taylor joins other celebs like Lady Gaga, Demi Lovato, Lorde or Kelly Clarkson in publicly supporting Kesha after the judge denied her bid to get out of her contract with Sony Music and Lukasz Gottwald, better known as Dr. Luke.
Kesha has been engaged in legal battle with Dr. Luke since 2014, whom she sued for sexual assault and battery. The megaproducer, who has worked with huge names from the industry like Britney Spears, Nicki Minaj and Katy Perry, filled a countersuit denying the allegations and accused Kesha of fabricating the charges to get out of her contract with Sony Music.
On Friday, New York Supreme Court Justice Shirley Kornreich ruled out Kesha's preliminary injuction motion which would have allowed terminating the contract, giving Kesha freedom to record music without Sony and producer Dr. Luke.
After the court's ruling, an array of fans and fellow pop stars showed support on social media with the hashtag #FreeKesha trending on Twitter. 'This is only gonna make you stronger, you brave and beautiful girl. Prayers are with you', Demi Lovato wrote, while Lady Gaga tweeted inspiring' words: 'There are people all over the world who love you Kesha, and I can say truly I am in awe of your braver'.
