Get ready for one super-hot issue of Elle UK! Photographed by
Doug Inglish and styled by Alexa Chung, Mila Kunis looks
incredibly sexy and glamorous on Elle's UK August 2012 cover
wearing an embroidered gown by Dior. The magazine got the chance to
sit down for a chat with the 28-year-old actress and dished on
those rumours about Ashton Kutcher and Justin Timberlake,
celebrity, Olsens' super-luxe line The Row, among others.
Well, no one can deny Mila's sultry side. Still, the actress
confesses that, "How much effort do I make? Well, I had a shower
for you before I came here! I apologise that I didn't bother to
wash my hair. I am really, honestly, not good at sexy."
Kunis has always said what she thought in interviews and press
calls proving that she's a straightforward person. "There's a part
of me that wants to be like everybody else and just adopt a persona
that I think people would like," she says.
"But I am who I am; I'm too lazy to try to be something that I'm
not and that's the truth. Otherwise, I would be perfect and sweet
and ladylike and all the things that I want people to perceive me
as. You lose all sense of yourself in that process, though. All
these actresses constantly playing the part of themselves - they
end up forgetting who they really are. I didn't realise how many
people go on talk shows and act a certain way, then you meet them
and you're like, 'What?' As though it's two different people, day
and night... Aren't you just exhausted doing that for a
living?"
Speaking about the fame game, Kunis says that, "I want someone
to tell my why I should play the game. I would get where I want to
be easier and faster - but I think I would lose all respect for
myself and I would lose all sense of reality. What’s the point of
doing that? To try and play the game makes no sense to me because I
don’t even understand what the hell the game is. Why bother?
Because, at the end of the day, what is it that I’m fighting for?
Fame, money, recognition… these are all things that make me
sick."
Mila was born in Ukraine. Her family moved to L.A. when she was
only seven and her parents took any job in order to survive. "They
sacrificed everything so my brother Micheal and I could have a
future," she says.
"I may have a lot now, but I'm OK if it all goes. I had everything
when I was poor. We always had food on the table. Somehow, my
parents made it happen. I felt loved and cared for. I didn't have
material things, but it didn't matter. I'm grateful now that I
don't have to wake up every morning and worry about how I'm going
to pay my bills. But I'm not going to sell my soul for it. I really
do know it's not the be-all and end-all," Kunis confesses.
Talking about celebrity, the lovely actress admits that, "I don’t
need this attention to be happy. It’s actually a whole industry of
rejection. People want the shiny stuff that comes with the job, but
it can be rough. That’s the truth; I’m just the first to say it.
It’s important that what I do and who I am are not the same
thing."
Mila dated actor Macaulay Culkin since she was 18. The two split
after a relationship of eight years. "Being settled so young really
helped. You know, I wouldn’t take anything back in my life, not one
thing. I think it all shaped me to be who I am today. There are
things people know about, and there are things that the press
doesn’t know about, and everything that did occur 100 percent
shaped who I am. My ex-boyfriend, my family, my friends, everybody…
The reason I’m able to have relationships is because I don’t talk
about it," the actress told Elle.
As on her current status and Ashton Kutcher, Kunis says that, "Yes,
I am totally single. We hang out. We’ve known each other for 15
years. We have mutual friends. We’re comfortable with one another.
That’s is, there’s no crazy love story, nothing more. I am very
private and I’ve never commented on my personal life… I really am
single. I don’t go out because when I do, everybody sees me. It’s
not like I’m having illicit rendezvous because there’s no such
thing as secret in my life."
She also adds, "And by the way, Justin Timberlake is one of my best
friends, to this day, okay? Friends, nothing else!"
Mila told the magazine that she likes reading, walking with her
bulldog Audrey, hiking in the Hollywood Hills, and eating.
"I love having a glass of wine. You're not supposed to say that,
but I see nothing wrong with it. My other favourite thing to do is
eat, so I go to the gym for precisely that reason. I'm not saying I
need to be a size zero, but any actress who tells you she's not
conscious of the pressure is lying. I'm OK with who I am - but it
doesn't mean there's not room for improvement," the actress
says.
