Léa Seydoux covers ASOS Magazine April 2012. The
26-year-old French actress had small parts in 'Inglorious Bastards'
and 'Robin Hood' yet she has been chosen by Woody Allen to play in
his latest award-winning film 'Midnight in Paris' and she starred
alongside Tom Cruise in 'Mission: Impossible – Ghost Protocol'. She
is also the face of Prada's Candy perfume and its 2012 Resort
line.
In the interview with the magazine, Seydoux talks about fashion,
Miuccia Prada, suffering from shyness, but also about working with
Tom Cruise and Woody Allen.
Speaking about fashion, Léa told ASOS that, "I am not a fashion addict. I don't want to be
judged by what I wear, I don't want to show who I am immediately. I
like to be chic and I like people who have style, but I prefer
charisma over fashion. I don't really care to be 'a la mode', or
into trends. What I like is people who have their own style."
On Miuccia Prada, the lovely actress confesses that, "I really like
the woman that Miuccia is. She does what she wants, she's very free
and I really like that. I like to be inspired. Woody Allen too,
those people are great inventors. I think you need, in life, to
'become' someone with what you do. You know Nietzsche? He said that
what you do is what you are. I believe in that."
Léa admits that she never planned to be an actress. "I'm going
to tell you the truth. I was very bad at school, and I didn't know
what to do, so I decided to become an actress. It was a choice. I
had met a guy who was an actor and I remember thinking, what a
great life. You can wake up when you want, you are in charge of
yourself and at the same time, you travel all around the world,
meeting fantastic people. I met him in the street, just outside
this cafe on a bench, and I fell in love and I thought, 'I want to
be like him, I want to do cinema. I want to be a poet.' So that's
why I did it," she told the magazine.
Seydoux also reveals in the interview that in her teenage years she
suffered from shyness.
"I think that in a way, all actresses are shy, but with me, it was
almost a disease. I was extremely shy when I was younger, and would
blush red like a tomato. And I'm still very shy. I remember meeting
Tom Cruise at the beginning of filming 'Mission: Impossible', and I
was blushing constantly. But he is extremely nice and an
extraordinary actor. I remember on the set just watching him and
being completely absorbed. Totally. It was such a great
experience," the young actress confesses.
On working with Woody Allen, Léa says that, "And then working with
Woody Allen – it was great, great, great. I was really excited to
do a movie with him. He's my favourite director, so it was a big
moment for me. You know he writes during the filming? He has the
whole thing in his head, but it changes all the time. He's like,
'OK, this is your text, but you can say what you want, you can
change the line, or the words.' It's so easy to work with him! We
had a really strong connection – everything that he says rings true
to me. It was like meeting a friend."
When it comes to her future, Léa Seydoux admits that she doesn't
plan anything. "I don't make any plans. I just want to see what
life is, where it takes you. I'm not planning anything. Life is so
scary, and you can't control everything," the actress says.
