It seems that the Kardashians prepaid debit card deal backfired as they are being sued by the company for not fulfilling their attributions concerning the prepaid MasterCard. The company is looking for the Kardashians to pay damages of over $75 million, so could this lawsuit be devastating for the Kardashians?
The super popular Kardashians are being sued over a debit card deal that they have agreed to sometime last year. The three sisters Kim, Khloe and Kourtney along with their mother Kris Jenner, ex-Kardashian, are accused of causing the debit card firm damages of over $75 million. Now that is a gigantic sum of money to be sued over but so far the Kadashians have not issued any statements regarding the lawsuit.
The lawsuit was filed in Fresno, California by the Revenue Resource Group, LLC. The debit card was supposed to be a prepaid debit card which people could manage their money through their phones as well and the Kardashians were supposed to be the faces of the campaign, having their portraits designed on the debit cards.
The Kardahians being sued over debit card deal comes as a shocker as at the time when the sisters agreed to team up with the Mobile Resource Card, they seemed quite excited and confident over the success of the debit cards. Khloe as well as Kim stated at that time:
"Never thought I'd have my own face on a debit card, but I think it's pretty amazing we're going to be in so many people's wallets!" (Khloe)
“No one likes going to banks and ATMs, and we're constantly on our phones -- why not make it easy to manage your money from your mobile?" (Kim)
The launch of these Kardashian debit cards was supposed to take place in November 2010, but the Kardashians dropped out of the deal due to lack of knowledge involving certain hidden fees, which triggered an investigation from the Attorney General of Connecticut so they issued a "Notice of Termination" of the contract.
It seems the Kardashians were not going to be the face for such debit cards which attracted negative attention, so they dropped out of the deal.
Revenue Resource Group claims the Kardashians have signed a two year agreement with the company and failed to complete the contract. The decision of the Kardashians to back out of the deal also attracted a generous amount of negative media attention towards RRG which affected the success of the debit cards.
RRG seems to blame the Kardashians for the debit card failure and want the damages to be paid by the Kardashian family. Well this is going to be an interesting trial and we can't wait for a response from the Kardashians regarding this lawsuit.
