It seems that John Mayer is not too happy about the 'Dear John' song singer Taylor Swift allegedly wrote about him, as John stated in an interview with Rolling Stone mag that he felt 'really humiliated' and that it was a "really lousy thing for her to do". Find out more details about the subject, next!
It seems that a new celebrity feud is about to hit the media as
John Mayer decided to target renowned country singer Taylor Swift for
the song 'Dear John' which allegedly tells a story about their
failed relationship. Taylor Swift is known for drawing inspiration
for her songs from her previous relationships, but it seems that
one of her ex boyfriends is finally taking a stand as John Mayer
recently revealed in an interview with Rolling Stone magazine that
he felt 'really humiliated' by the song 'Dear John' and that it
made him feel 'terrible'.
The song was included in Taylor Swift's 2010 'Speak Now' album and
was released shortly after the alleged romantic relationship
between the two celebrities. Although Taylor never identified the
'John' in her song to be John Mayer, the 34 year old 'Your Body Is
A Wonderland' singer apparently believes that the song was about
him as he revealed to the magazine that he decided to speak out
"because I didn't deserve it. I'm pretty good at taking
accountability now, and I never did anything to deserve that. It
was a really lousy thing for her to do."
According to John, who took a two year hiatus from his career,
he found out about Taylor's feeling by listening to her song and
says that he was caught off-guard by the entire situation, and as
he comments on the 'heavy' lyrics of the song, John reveals to the
magazine that:
“I never got an e-mail. I never got a phone call. I was really
caught off-guard, and it really humiliated me at a time when I'd
already been dressed down. I mean, how would you feel if, at the
lowest you've ever been, someone kicked you even lower?”
One of the lyrics in the songs says 'Don't you think I was too
young to be messed with?' which suggest that Mayer, who is much
older than Taylor, didn't take the age factor into consideration
when he decided to 'mess with her'. As far as this particular lyric
goes, John Mayer said that “I don't want to go into that.”
Because the two chose the same career paths, music, John Mayer
decided to share his point of view on the 'Dear John' song not only
from a personal level but a professional level as well, and as a
musician and songwriter, John told the magazine that the
songwriting was 'kind of cheap':
“I will say as a songwriter that I think it's kind of cheap
songwriting. I know she's the biggest thing in the world, and I'm
not trying to sink anybody's ship, but I think it's abusing your
talent to rub your hands together and go, 'Wait till he gets a load
of this!' That's bullshit.”
