Jessie J graces the November 2012 issue of Elle's British
edition. In the accompanying interview, the beautiful 24-year-old
songstress opens up and talks about a wide range of topics
including love, her sexuality, marriage, fashion and changing her
image.
When it comes to her personal life, Jessie reveals that she's now
single, for the first time in a long time. "I definitely feel that
my whole attitude to love and relationships has grown up a lot in
the last year," she told the magazine.
As on last year's bisexuality story, Jessie says that, "I don't
really talk about it any more. It's one of those things that's
boring. I spoke about it. People were interested in it because it
was rare for someone to be so honest. But for me... I definitely
want to get married and have kids and it's just about making sure
that the person who I meet and that I do that with is right for
me."
The gorgeous singer confesses that she is only looking for love. "I
think, again, it's one of those things where the media labelled me.
Sexuality shouldn't define anyone. It doesn't define me. Love
should be at the core of what you do. And I'm only interested in
finding love now," she said in the cover story.
Jessie J says she has always taken music and herself seriously.
"I wrote poems that I'd then make into songs and they were always
very intense. It was never, 'There's a boy at school that I like.'
It was always like, 'What is love? What is beauty?'" she
explains.
Speaking about fashion and her favorite designers, the singer
admits that, "Vivienne Westwood, Balenciaga, Roberto Cavalli, Giles
Deacon. I wore one of his dresses for the ELLE shoot and it just
fitted my body. I'm a huge, huge fan of Acne, Stella McCartney. I
went in there the other day and I had to stop myself from buying
everything. And I phoned her and I went..."
On her image and how it changed throughout time, Jessie says that,
"That really scary, spiky, cartoony kind of thing, that was me two
or three years ago. Now, I'm definitely more embracing of myself as
a woman and my sexuality and just being a bit more feminine. I've
always wanted to look like this, but it didn't grab people's
attention. And in the beginning you've always got to do something
that's going to make people go, 'Who's that?'"
The songstress told the magazine that she is definitely growing
into fashion. "It's about confidence. Maybe I was a bit scared. I
was a bit insecure about my body, about being too grown up. But I
was a girl and now I'm a woman and I want to make sure I enjoy it,"
she says.
