Former plus size model, Crystal Renn has landed a bikini gig with Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue 2012 and she looks amazing. However, her recent weight loss has raised a lot of eyebrows, so find out what Crystal had to say about it and check out her stunning new spread next!
Former plus-size model Crystal Renn has managed to alter her
body completely and ditch her 'plus size' label as she has dropped
a stunning amount of weight. The supermodel made the best out of
her new slender physique in a spread for Sports Illustrated
Swimsuit Issue 2012, where she posed seductively in various bikinis
in an array of beautiful sceneries in Australia. Captured on lens
by Walter Iooss Jr., Ms. Renn looks absolutely sensational, but her
current weight has managed to split the public's opinion in half.
While some people love Crystal Renn's new svelte figure, others
believe that Crystal looked much better when she was a size 14 and
a plus size model.
The diva has opened up about her battle with anorexia in the past
as she documented her journey and shared her experience with her
fans in a book titled 'Hungry', and because of her past, her weight
loss has raised a lot of eyebrows.
Crystal has stated that she is more than comfortable in her own
skin then when she was a size 14 and she is the first plus size
model to be featured in 6 Vogue Magazines. Although Crystal has
revealed in the past that plus size model have a much longer career
than zero size models, she decided to ditch her plus size career
and become a regular size model. Apparently, the attention her
slimdown received put a little bit of pressure on Crystal as she
revealed in an interview for Ford Models blog that she's not
willing to change her look for others. She said:
“I think that by placing a title on my head, which is 'plus-size,'
and then the picture that these people have created in their mind
about what plus-size actually is, I've basically failed [your
expectations] just with that.”
In an interview with People, former plus-size model Crystal Renn
talks about her newest spread for the uber-popular Sports
Illustrated Swimsuit Issue 2012. The supermodel looks sensational
and although almost half the size she was in the past, Crystal is
very satisfied with her new look and doesn't feel pressured to live
up to others expectations. She tells People that:
“I've been a double-zero to a 16 even, for a bit. Now, to be a size
six or an eight, it's a really interesting place to be, because
there are very few sizes or eights.”
Apparently, doing the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue 2012 was
very fun for Crystal, who is an advocate for size diversity on the
runway, as according to her the magazine isn't interested to
feature skinny models but healthy models. She said:
“There's a woman at SI who's made it a point to make sure that the
models are healthy. They're not interested in who's the thinnest
model of them all, they're about the girl. We all have different
bodies. There's not one type that's idealized.
I felt comfortable with my body. I've been doing yoga for a while
now, that makes you aware of how your body moves. I have found a
place of stability when it comes to how to view my figure.”
