Christina Aguilera and Boyfriend Arrested

Christina Aguilera seems to be making headlines with her new lifestyle. Apparently the most recent "slip" of Christina was her and her boyfriend's arrest. Find out more details bellow!

The life of Christina Aguilera has been taking a downward spiral since last year, when she and her then husband Jason Bratman decided to end their marriage. It seems that her life hasn't improved as she and her boyfriend, Matthew Rutler got arrested on early Tuesday, March 1, 2011.

The news that Christina Aguilera and boyfriend got arrested caught everyone by surprise especially due to the reason of the arrest. Apparently the couple was booked over drinking. Rutler was spotted drinking and then getting behind the wheel with his gal, Christina Aguilera. The police pulled over their car and Rutler was busted for drinking under the influence. Christina, who was only a passenger in the car, was also arrested by the police on a charge of public intoxication.

Sergent Michael Thomas of West Hollywood Sheriff's Department told US magazine that Christina Aguilera was actually arrested for “her own safety” as she was intoxicated but will be released as soon as she will be sober. However, that's not what we can say for Christina's boyfriend as his charge is quite serious.

DUI is not to be overlooked as people can get seriously injured. A person doesn't have the same level of concentration and skill when intoxicated, this is why Rutler was booked. L.A. Times said that Rutler's bail was set at $30 000 while Christina's at $250.

It appears the couple did not resist arrest and they cooperated with the police. Still, this could pose as a major “black mark” on Christina's reputation. She is now a single mom, who joins custody of her son with her ex-husband, and she needs to show her qualities not her flaws. This is the downside of being a celebrity: every bad step celebs take, make headlines.

According to US Weekly, some of Christina's close friends revealed their concern over the pop star's drinking. It appears Christina has been drinking more often now and her friends think this might get out of control. The source said “She's really spiraling. I would be shocked if she's not in rehab in the next month or two.”

We hope Christina gets back on track as we would hate to see a custody battle between her and her ex Jason for their 3 year old.
